Applications and Proposals Specialist

Job Summary: The Applications and Proposals Specialist prepares technical quotations and proposals for custom-engineered power and pneumatic systems and supports post-production testing and troubleshooting. Working with sales, engineering, manufacturing, customers, and contract manufacturers, the specialist translates technical requirements, findings, and recommendations into clear, accurate documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare test plans, test reports, business correspondence, troubleshooting procedures, and technical content for quotations and proposals.
  • Review customer specifications, drawings, datasheets, and project requirements to determine suitable equipment configurations and options, identify technical risks, and gather the information needed to prepare quotations.
  • Prepare accurate technical quotations and supporting documentation for remote power systems, pneumatic systems, and IECEx-certified offshore generator packages.
  • Ensure quotations, test reports, troubleshooting procedures, customer communications, and internal documentation are clear, accurate, and appropriate for their intended audiences.
  • Present information and respond to questions from sales managers, customers, and contract manufacturers.
  • Analyze technical problems by collecting relevant data, establishing facts, drawing valid conclusions, and communicating findings and recommended next steps to team members.

Education & Experience:

  • A technical diploma in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, or mechanical engineering technology is required.
  • At least one year of relevant experience is required.
  • Experience with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Experience preparing technical quotations, technical documentation, test reports, procedures, proposals, or other customer-facing technical writing.
  • Electrical testing experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with remote power systems, pneumatic or air systems, offshore equipment, hazardous-area equipment, or IECEx-certified products is considered an asset.

Skills & Abilities:

  • General knowledge of software and hardware used for control and data acquisition.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, datasheets, and verbal and written work instructions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Organized and able to multitask.
  • Knowledge of safe work practices and hands-on experience applying them.

Work Environment:

  • A personal vehicle is required for travel to and from contract manufacturers in Calgary.
  • The position may require lifting items weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Regular use of a computer keyboard is required.
  • The position requires standing for several hours each day.
  • Must be willing and able to work at the manufacturing facility.
  • Job duties may require access to outdoor areas with elevated noise levels and extreme temperatures.
