Applications Engineer - Mechanical

Job Summary: The Applications Engineer acts as the technical and business interface between customers, engineering, and operations. This role ensures Qnergy’s product lines and custom projects are configured to customer needs, supported in the field, and continuously improved throughout their lifecycle. The position combines deep application expertise with project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary technical contact for application engineering, configuration, and deployment of Qnergy systems.
  • Develop specifications, proposals, and cost models aligned with customer requirements and site conditions.
  • Provide field support for system testing, startup, performance troubleshooting, and customer demonstrations.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to prioritize and execute design updates, reliability improvements, and cost reductions.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project documentation (drawings, calculations, manuals and datasheets).
  • Track field reliability metrics and initiate root cause analyses where necessary.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Executive teams on product roadmaps, launch plans, and market positioning.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or technologist with equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience in mechanical design, testing, product management, or system integrations in industrial or energy systems.
  • P.Eng. or P.Tech. with ability to stamp mechanical drawings in Alberta and/or BC.
  • Proficiency with CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), and ERP, and data analysis tools.
  • An understanding of thermodynamics, power systems, and industrial controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical and business audiences.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience in energy (oil and gas), power generation, fuel conditioning, with strong mechanical engineering expertise including skid design, PSV sizing and process flow calculations (flow rates and system performance)
  • Experience with hazardous area equipment is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills especially as they relate to interfacing with customers and understanding customer technical needs.
  • Strong documentation, scheduling and CAD drawing skills.
  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience implementing safe practices.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets, plus verbal and written work instructions.
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently and in group settings.
  • Must be organized and able to multi-task.

Work Environment:

  • Willingness to occasionally travel nationally and internationally.
  • Some lifting up to 20 pounds may be required.
  • Primarily engineering, laboratory, and shop environment.
  • Must be willing and able to work at the job site.
  • May require work in areas where noise and temperature levels are elevated.
