Human Resources Operations Assistant

Location: Tottenham, Ontario

Status: Full-time contract (7–8 months), with the possibility of extension or transition to a permanent role based on operational needs.

Reports to: Senior Director, Human Resources

About the role: As the Human Resources Operations Assistant at Purposeful, you’ll support high-volume recruitment and hiring in a fast-paced environment across multiple golf courses.. This role plays a key part in keeping hiring moving including coordinating interviews, supporting onboarding, and ensuring a positive experience for candidates and hiring managers.

Working closely with HR, hiring managers  and payroll, you’ll provide hands-on support across recruitment, onboarding, records management, and HR systems, while modeling Purposeful’s core values.

This role is well suited to a highly organized, system-oriented individual who is eager to support recruitment initiatives and grow their HR skill set.

Purpose Statement: Drive HR initiatives by providing hands-on support to the team, prioritizing recruitment coordination, and ensuring team members and managers are informed, supported, and set up for success.

What you’ll do: 

Recruitment & Hiring Support

  • Assist with job postings in Collage and external platforms
  • Coordinate interviews and communication with candidates and hiring teams
  • Maintain recruitment records and candidate statuses
  • Generate offer letters for seasonal/hourly hires

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Prepare and coordinate onboarding tasks and documentation
  • Lead onboarding communications for seasonal/hourly team members, assist with all others
  • Ensure new hire records are complete and accurate
  • Support offboarding processes, including documentation and system updates

HR Administration & Systems

  • Maintain accurate employee records in Collage 
  • Support data entry, document uploads, and HR reporting
  • Ensure templates and documentation follow branding and compliance standards

Payroll & Timekeeping Support

  • Monitor timekeeping compliance and escalate issues as needed
  • Support employees and managers with basic payroll and timekeeping questions/training

Policies, Compliance & Health & Safety

  • Track policy acknowledgements and compliance requirements
  • Support Health & Safety documentation and reporting
  • Assist with monthly audits to ensure compliance across business units

Employee Support & Communication

  • Respond to HR inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Model Purposeful’s core values in daily interactions
  • Escalate sensitive or complex issues to the HR team as appropriate

General HR Support

  • Assist with HR projects, process improvements, and culture initiatives
  • Share insights from experience, coursework, or emerging HR trends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You’ll Bring: 

  • Recently graduated from a Human Resources Management program (preferred)
  • 1–3 years of experience in HR, recruitment, or administrative support (preferred)
  • Familiar with HRIS or payroll systems; experience with Collage or Payworks is a plus
  • Basic understanding of HR best practices and Employment Standards Act
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace apps
  • Able to stay organized and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible, adaptable, and ready to learn on the go

What You’ll Need: 

  • HR Certification or in progress (documents required)
  • Hybrid schedule: 4 days on-site between two courses, 1 day work-from-home (with a suitable workspace)
  • Primarily office-based, with regular movement around the golf courses
  • Reliable transportation to travel between courses as needed
  • May involve extended periods at a desk as well as walking outdoors to support operations and events

Compensation: $50,000 annually (pro-rated based on term of employment).
