Love being outdoors? Care about nature, community, and making a real difference? Power To Be is looking for 2 hands‑on Landscape Assistants to help care for our beautiful Prospect Lake site, where nature, inclusion, and possibility come together.

About the Role
Working alongside our Site Maintenance Technician and Facilities and Assets Lead, you’ll help maintain and restore our lakeside site using sustainable and ecological practices like permaculture, rewilding, and Leave No Trace principles. You’ll play a key role in keeping the land safe, welcoming, and thriving for participants, staff, volunteers, and wildlife.
You’ll work with a passionate team, gain hands-on outdoor leadership experience, and make a real impact on people’s lives. Think teamwork, trail time, and personal growth, all wrapped up in one amazing summer!
What You’ll Be Doing
Caring for the Land
- Maintain trails, gardens, wetlands, and natural spaces
- Support organic lawn care, planting, pruning, mulching, and restoration work
- Assist with eco‑friendly facility upkeep and green cleaning practices
Supporting Programs
- Prep gear and equipment for outdoor and adaptive recreation programs
- Help set up camps, program spaces, and move kayaks/canoes
Working with People
- Support volunteers during stewardship and gardening sessions
- Welcome site users and work closely with the operations team
- Share environmentally friendly practices and values
Safety & Admin
- Follow safety procedures and assist with basic documentation and inspections
Who You Are
- Enjoy hands‑on outdoor work and don’t mind getting a bit dirty
- Curious, motivated, and eager to learn practical landscaping and environmental skills
- A reliable team player who communicates well and supports others on site
- Respectful of nature and interested in sustainable land‑care practices
- Comfortable working outside in a variety of weather conditions and physical environments
What You Need
- Enjoy physical outdoor work in all kinds of weather
- CSA‑approved steel‑toed safety boots
- Valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation to Prospect Lake
- Clear Criminal Record Check (We will run this when you get hired)
- Proof of COVID‑19 vaccination
- Class 5 driver’s license – must be able to get to the Prospect Lake site
Canada Summer Job Eligibility
This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection;
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial/territorial laws.
Employment is conditional upon approval of funding through the CSJ program.
Terms of Employment:
Location: Prospect Lake site (4633 Prospect Lake Road)
Position: Landscape Assistant (2 positions)
Reports to: Grounds Maintenance Technician
Term: May – August (8 weeks)
Hours: 35 hours per week (full-time)
Compensation: $20.00 per hour, plus 4% in lieu of vacation time.
