Are you ready to spend your summer kayaking, hiking, playing outside, laughing, and helping others discover the magic of nature? Join Power To Be, a non-profit that believes everyone belongs in nature. As a Summer Program Assistant, you’ll help deliver unforgettable outdoor programs that connect youth, families, and adults living with barriers to the wild spaces around us.
You’ll work with a passionate team, gain hands-on outdoor leadership experience, and make a real impact on people’s lives. Think teamwork, trail time, and personal growth, all wrapped up in one amazing summer!
What You’ll Do
- Support and co-lead inclusive outdoor recreation programs (kayaking, hiking, nature exploration, games, and more!)
- Encourage participants of all abilities to connect with nature and build confidence outdoors
- Help with program setup, equipment care, and basic admin tasks
- Work alongside staff, volunteers, and community partners to make every program safe, fun, and empowering
Who You Are
- Enthusiastic, inclusive, and ready to learn
- Love being outdoors and enjoy helping others experience it
- A good communicator and team player
- Comfortable with light physical activity (like moving kayaks or hiking short distances)
Nice to have (but not required):
- Experience working with kids, youth, or people with disabilities
- First Aid and CPR
Need to have (required)
- Clear Criminal Record – we will run the criminal record check
- Proof of COVID vaccination
- Class 5 driver’s license – must be able to get to the Prospect Lake site
Canada Summer Job Eligibility
This position is funded by the Government of Canada’s Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program. To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection;
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada under relevant provincial/territorial laws.
Employment is conditional upon approval of funding through the CSJ program.
