At Power To Be, we believe nature should be accessible to everyone. Our Prospect Lake site spans nearly 80 acres of forest, shoreline, and purpose‑designed spaces where youth, families, and adults living with barriers experience adventure, belonging, and joy outdoors.
This summer, we’re looking for a Grounds Maintenance Technician to help care for this incredible place. If you love being outside, enjoy physical, hands-on work, and thrive in a setting where every day feels a little different, this role might be your perfect fit.
What You’ll Do
- Maintain grounds, pathways, program areas, and outdoor infrastructure
- Operate and care for landscape equipment (mowers, tractors, trimmers, etc.)
- Remove invasive species and support ecological land care
- Identify and address natural hazards
- Help with facility upkeep, purchasing, and tracking maintenance records
- Support volunteer groups and occasional community events
- Participate in at least one Power To Be program each quarter
Working Conditions
- This is an active outdoor job with:
- Variable weather
- Some early mornings
- Occasional evenings or weekends
- Tasks involving lifting (up to 50 lbs with assistance), climbing, bending, and navigating uneven terrain

Requirements
- Criminal Record Check + CRRA check
- Reliable transportation to Prospect Lake
- Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence and clean abstract
- Ability to support OH&S and BC Camping Certification standards
- Full COVID‑19 vaccination
Nice-to-Haves
- Horticulture or land-care knowledge
- Irrigation system experience (e.g., Rain Bird)
- Certifications (chainsaw operation, dangerous tree assessment, landscaping, carpentry, WHMIS)
- Class 4 driver’s licence
- Experience in non-profit or outdoor recreation
