Job Description: Site Operations Assistant (Summer Student Placement)
NOC 73201: General building maintenance workers and building superintendents
Reports to: Director of Facilities and Assets
Overall Purpose: Power To Be inspires youth and families in need of support to discover their limitless abilities through nature-based programs. The Site Operations Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Facilities and Assets Manager to ensure that organizational facilities and assets (primarily at our Prospect Lake site) are problem-free and safe so that employees and volunteers can work under the best conditions ultimately creating space for optimal mission performance. We are seeking an energetic, “go-getter” student for temporary summer employment who meets the requirements for Canada Summer Jobs funding.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Support the operation of our Prospect Lake program hub adhering to the mission, values and policies of Power To Be
- Perform site maintenance duties such as grounds-keeping, cleaning, and minor repairs
- Re-stock supplies such as toilet paper, cleaning supplies, camp supplies and maintenance supplies
- Support program preparation including trip packing, asset set up (i.e. kayaks) and camp area set up
- Occasional participation or observation of a Power To Be program
- Support and/or greet site users, volunteers, or service providers
- Support the implementation of the annual operations/resource plan
- Support safety, wellness and security with an emphasis on occupational health and safety
Performs other related duties, as required
Requirements
- As per the Ministry of Justice requirements, job offers are contingent on submitting to a criminal record check.
- Experience with hardware, tools and/or electrical equipment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team
- Working outside in inclement weather and ability to perform physically demanding tasks (ie: moving and lifting loaded kayaks) is required at times
Must qualify for Canada Summer Job Funding:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
Preference given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Experience performing facilities maintenance and/or light repairs
- OFA Level One and/or WHMIS
- Knowledge of camp setting

Term: Contract ending September 3, 2022
Hours: 30 hours per week
Compensation: $15.20 to $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
