Overall Purpose: Power To Be inspires youth and families in need of support to discover their limitless abilities through nature-based programs. Reporting to the Director of Advancement, the primary objective of this position is to lead Major Gift Giving with an emphasis on individuals, annual campaign and planned giving. The position will also focus on supporting relationship managers to implement the plan, as well as community and event-based fundraising to support the mission and vision of Power To Be.

The Senior Donor Advisor will work closely with the advancement team to build a robust individual giving program in order to achieve its fundraising targets, while identifying long-term funders. A dedicated motivator, the successful candidate will channel the Power To Be story into compelling stakeholder supported projects and activities.


The Senior Donor Advisor will cultivate and lead a portfolio of donors as well as fundraising and community-based relationships and potential prospects. The successful candidate will create and implement comprehensive and innovative stewardship plans for stakeholder support, ensuring appropriate partnership recognition and acknowledgement is in place.


SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES


Individual and Major Gift Fundraising:

· Work in partnership with the advancement team and staff to facilitate maximum private and public sector fundraising (roughly $4 million per annum)

· Lead Annual Campaign and individual giving strategy, including major gifts and support relationship managers to implement plan

· Develop and implement a comprehensive plan for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a personal donor portfolio of prospects and donors, including attracting new major gifts ($50k+)

· Lead individual recognition and stewardship plan and ensure that appropriate recognition, acknowledgement and stewardship is provided to partners (donors and other related partnerships such as in-kind support and program partners)

· Build Planned Giving program

· Develop and implement strategies for attracting individual and major gift funding for gift solicitations and coordinating gift solicitations in concert with the CEO and Director of Advancement, advancement team and volunteers

· Make face-to-face visits with donors and prospective donors for the purposes of discovery, cultivation, and solicitation

· Develop proposal strategies for individual gifts with the advancement team and working with donors to generate gifts for priority projects

· Generate processes and materials for presentation to community and donors


Events and Communications:

· Identify marketing/communications opportunities for Power To Be

· Support fundraising components of Power To Be events, such as auctions, individual fundraising or donor recognition/engagement

· Oversee local community event engagement plan for events where Power To Be can have a presence (working with advancement and program staff on joint initiatives)

· Assist with the marketing and communications of programs and Power To Be to community stakeholders, or other related external communications


Recognition and Confidentiality:

· Ensure adherence to Power To Be donor recognition policies and brand standards including receipting, thank you cards and public recognition within prescribed timelines

· Maintain donor contact through calls, correspondence and personalized gift acknowledgement letters, record contact in CRM

· Protect and maintain the accuracy and confidentiality of all donor files

· Adhere to Power To Be privacy policies and related legislation

· Ensure all initiatives and activities are consistent with Power To Be’s mission, vision and values, and adhere to CRA guidelines, Financial Controls, Code of Ethics of the AFP and Imagine Canada Ethical Code


Administration Duties:

· Contribute to or produce weekly reports to monitor strategies, objectives and timelines

· Observe and support all fundraising tasks and notes in Power To Be’s CRM system

· Monitor fund development trends, issues and regulatory requirements

· Act as an initial point of contact for all email or telephone inquiries related to development

· Adhere to Power To Be standards as it relates to administration and information technology


People:

· Be a support to co-workers, volunteers and stakeholders; assist co-workers with their responsibilities in their absence as required

· Foster healthy internal communication and engagement practices

· Contribute to a positive and dynamic working culture congruent with Power To Be’s values

· Recruit, support and/or supervise volunteers as required

· Participate in and/or chair meetings as required

· Adhere to all Power To Be policies and procedures and applicable legislation as they relate to staff and volunteer practices


Finance:

· Provide support to the development of annual advancement budget

· Manage an individual giving budget

· Adhere to the annual operating and capital expenditure budgets

· Understand and implement proper fiscal controls


Programs:

· Adhere to Participant Protection Policies and Procedures

· At a minimum, support or observe a Power To Be program once per quarter


Other:

· Contribute to the development, monitoring and achievement of the annual advancement plan and associated goals in support of the strategic plan and vision of Power To Be

· Support the formation of development policies and procedures

· Support workplace safety, wellness and security

· Performs other related duties, as required


Particular Working Conditions: In consideration of the mission we serve, it is preferred that the Senior Donor Advisor enjoys an active lifestyle. The position involves time spent at a computer/desk, time out in the community meeting with donors, regular travel, and evening and weekend commitments. Working outside in inclement weather is required at times. Access to a vehicle is required. A reimbursement program is in place as per Power To Be policy.


Requirements:

· Proven track record of five or more years in a fundraising, sales or marketing environment with an emphasis on direct solicitation

· Outstanding communication skills (written and verbal) with a remarkable ability to connect with a wide variety of audiences (one-to-one or large groups)

· Post-secondary degree in a related field

· Proficient in the use of computers and capacity to quickly learn new programs

· Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently

· Capacity to quickly adapt to new project requests

· As per the Ministry of Justice requirements, job offers are contingent on submitting to a criminal record check

Assets:

· Demonstrated knowledge of the regulatory requirements and best practices related to fundraising and non-profits

· Experience with Major Gifts

· Experience with Planned Giving

· Experience with CRM (particularly Salesforce) and ability to interpret and leverage CRM reports to direct strategy

· Experience with Office 365

· Professional development or certification in fundraising

· Experiences working with people that live with a barrier, disability or other significant life challenge(s)

· Knowledge of outdoor pursuits


Terms of Employment

Location: Power To Be has operations in Victoria and Vancouver (work from home and in-office)

Position: Senior Donor Advisor

Reports to: Director of Advancement

Hours: Full-time 40 hours per week

Compensation: commensurate based on experience plus a comprehensive benefits package including professional development and RRSP matching
