OVERALL OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE


This role will play a key artistic and technical part in implementing new Mechs in MechWarrior Online, modeling and texturing weapons mounts and cosmetic attachments for hard surface export / import to game engine, addressing bugs and creating Mech Patterns with customizable colors.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with existing mech models in 3ds Max
  • Work with Design to create new mech weapon attachment points
  • Export Mech models with New Weapon hard points to CryEngine and debug
  • Create unique cosmetic attachments for the exterior of the mech
  • Create new paint patterns and export for use in engine with customizable colors
  • Import new paint patterns to CryEngine and test
  • Work closely with MechWarrior Online Team to create fun and visually exciting offerings to ensure consistency, quality and focus on the visual target
  • Communicate with Design, Production and QA to deliver mechs on a regularly scheduled basis
  • Help create 2D decals and badges

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2+ years’ experience modeling game art and generating textures in an industry setting
  • Experience in object creations of all types and sizes within game-rez budget, including modular assets
  • Proficiency in Art software such as 3dsMax, Mudbox, Photoshop
  • Knowledge of both high and low poly techniques
  • Ability to adapt to hard surface MechWarrior high and low poly style
  • Experienced with shaders, diffuse, normal, specular creation
  • Skilled in texture, both from photo-sourced and hand-painted
  • An artistry for colour and texture application
  • English communication skills, both verbally and written

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with CryEngine a Plus
  • Experience with 3rd party software to aid in speeding up production time, such as Ndo/Ddo, Xnormal, MaxScripts
  • Strong traditional art and digital painting skills
  • Strong aptitude to continuous learning in/outside work hours
