Job Summary:

The Social Worker is an integral part of a dynamic and growing clinical program at Phoenix Centre for Children and Families, a Community Based Child and Youth Mental Health program in the Renfrew County region. The Social Worker will be responsible for completing comprehensive clinical assessments, formulating and developing individualized treatment plans, prior to providing individual, family, and/or group therapy to high risk and complex children, youth, and families within an office-based, as well as a community-based setting. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker will be required to consult with internal and external community partners in the provision of clinical services.

This is a full-time position.

Summary of responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will work as a member of the Phoenix Center for Children and Families team. The Social Worker works collaboratively with individuals who are experiencing the most severe, complex, rare, or chronic/persistent diagnosable addiction, mental health and concurrent disorder issues that significantly impair functioning in most areas such as home, school/work, and in the community. The Social Worker applies mastery of mental health and concurrent disorder psychotherapy theory and skills when working with youth and their families as well as embodies a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care. The Social Worker will provide a range of intensive psychotherapy interventions including working with youth who are referred by regional emergency departments presenting with suicidality, trauma and require timely clinical intervention. The Social Worker will provide treatment in-person, virtually, and in the community (i.e. home, school, satellite offices) as required.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers (OCSWSSW) as a Social Worker
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience and in-depth knowledge of delivering a range of psychotherapy interventions in the child and youth population
  • Demonstrated clinical practice in one or more of the various treatment modalities specific to psychotherapy i.e. cognitive & behavioural, experiential & humanistic, psychodynamic, somatic, system & collaborative
  • Thorough knowledge of the Child & Family Services Act, Personal Health Information Act, Freedom of Information Act, and Mental Health Act
  • Strong assessment skills and ability to manage treatment efficacy
  • Superior interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate well with community partners
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a professional multi-disciplinary team environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
  • Able to provide counselling services in the community (i.e. in home, school, satellite offices) and virtually, in addition to in-office services as required
  • Travel may be required for this position; must have a valid driver's license in good standing and access to own transportation
  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications and software programs
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and influence
  • Clear vulnerable sector check
  • Bilingualism preferred (French/English)
