As a Propulsion Systems Engineer at NordSpace, you will be working towards developing Canada's first orbital class launch vehicle, to be launched from Canada as well. A first on countless fronts, and sure to inspire the country and generations of scientists and engineers. Your work will involve a tremendous amount of scoping, research, design, and prototyping of a proprietary engine with an intense focus on rapid iteration and testing while maintaining a high degree of safety. The specifics and constraints will be discussed privately. You will build the foundations for this critical division of NordSpace in your first year and also participate in the recruitment of additional engineers. This role requires someone with vision, leadership, and a relentless work ethic that goes far beyond the norm. It also requires someone who has a strong natural intuition of physics and mathematics, a knack for hands on prototyping, and a desire to move fast.
Qualifications
• 3+ years of industry experience in propulsion/rocketry
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field, Master’s or Ph.D. greatly preferred
• Significant hands-on engineering experience with propulsion systems design, prototyping, and testing
• Significant experience working safely with high pressure gases, propellants, fluids
• Significant experience with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, compressible flow, aerodynamics, structural dynamics
• Significant experience with CAD, CFD, and FEA tools such as Solidworks, Autodesk Suite, Ansys, Nastran, Eagle, MATLAB
• Significant knowledge of and deep passion for the space industry at large
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct independent research
• Excellent English communication skills
• Excellent project management skills
