OwnSpace is looking for designers to join our team in enabling the digital transformation of real estate development, and helping us rethink and redesign our world’s built environment.
We believe that if we give buyers the agency to shape their homes, and we give developers the tools to make that change, we can all build a better world – one home, one neighbourhood, one city at a time.
Real estate is ripe for transformation, and our tight-knit team moves fast and reinvents itself with the skills and ideas that everyone brings to the table. We believe that unconventional and inter-disciplinary approaches are key for the team to do its best work, and for us to collectively make the world a better place.
About the team
- Work with a small and adaptive team that values unconventional thinking and is eager to try new ways of doing things.
- Work closely with both the digital world of technology and the tangible world of real estate.
- Work with some exceptionally ambitious and creative folks who have had different paths and great stories to tell.
- Duck the 9-to-5, and work in a digital-first environment with a flexible schedule.
About the role
- Apply progressive design thinking and doing through direct exposure to the end-users and real estate staff.
- Work across disciplines, collaborating with developers, designers, and real estate staff to find effective and scalable solutions.
- Collaborate closely with design and product leadership to define the direction and scope of your product area.
- Build and iterate on features to improve process efficiency.
- Contribute to efforts around the design system, UI treatments, interactions, and brand experience.
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as an individual contributor for a real product that has been built, launched, and used by real users.
- Understanding of the breath of Design thinking and approaches, from mock-ups and prototypes to collaborative methods and user research.
- A strong portfolio, demonstrating both a strong UX foundation and a keen eye for visual design.
- Ability to balance between quick iteration and deep dives when solving complex problems.
- Ease in explaining decisions and design rationale.
- High proficiency with using industry tools like Figma or XD (we use Figma)
Other requirements
- You need to be legally authorized to work in Canada. We are only able to employ workers who are legally eligible to work in Canada.
Bonus points
- Exposure to or experience in real estate, architecture, interior design, and urban planning.
- Experience designing or working with ERPs, MRPs, and CRMs.
- Cross-disciplinary background (technical or other)
