Reporting to the President and CEO this position is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and operational oversight of clinical research, scientific programs and fracture liaison services across the organization by working with a range of stakeholders including corporate sector, government, education and health agencies, allied health professionals, physicians, volunteers and OC departments. This role also has strategic leadership of Osteoporosis Canada’s Youth Advisory Council and Patient Network.

Roles and Accountabilities:
- Provide national support to the Scientific Advisory Council (SAC) and their committees through the development & implementation of an annual work plan; liaise with the SAC; Manage Osteoporosis Canada’s Scientific Activities program liaising with the SAC Research Committee and Knowledge Translation committees.
- Work with the President & CEO on clinical policy issues, including working with the SAC Public Health Agency expert working group and the Canadian Institute for Health Research or other initiatives where policy and advocacy intersect
- Provide support to the Rare Skeletal and Metabolic Disease Group (RSMD) which includes industry, patients, other like-minded groups and a multi-disciplinary representation of healthcare providers including clinicians, researchers and practitioners.
- Support the organizations’ clinical web services and provide direction and leadership to OC staff on clinical issues; Review educational material with clinical content to determine accuracy and consistency with SAC positions and determine need for SAC review
- Working with the SAC Chair and Co-chair, develop a Canadian Musculoskeletal Conference (CMC) biannually as a hybrid, accredited event for HCP’s.
- Act as staff lead to the Canadian Osteoporosis Patient Network (COPN) & Youth Advisory Council (YAC), providing strategic planning and execution to both groups.
- Work with the OC National FLS Implementation Lead to promote and support the implementation of effective FLSs across Canada and ensure the development and dissemination of OC’s educational programs and services.
- Support FLS Implementation Lead with all aspects of FLS audit; Assist with development of framework for education, training and mentorship for FLS coordinators and medical leads.
- Serve as Osteoporosis Canada’s Privacy Officer
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
- University or Collage degree in a health-related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience in scientific program management, or healthcare-related operations
- Experience working with industry sponsors, academic partners, or government health agencies
- Experience developing and managing budgets and timelines
- Demonstrated success in strategic planning for scientific or clinical programs
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience presenting to executive leadership, scientific committees, or external stakeholders
- Proficient with Excel, data entry, formulas and creating graphics of data; Proficient in virtual technology apps such as Teams and Zoom and able to maximize all functions
- The ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
- Experience of working across different sectors and developing links with other agencies
- Knowledge of the French language is an asset

- Intermittent travel involved – must have a valid driver’s license
- Evening and weekend work may be involved
SALARY: $ 90,000-$100,000 per annum plus benefits.
