The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre is a vibrant, not-for-profit organization providing clinical intervention and support services to children and youth with a variety of developmental supported needs. About the Opportunity
We are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and relationship-driven Foundation & Community Engagement Specialist to join our team.
Reporting to the Executive Director, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing strategy with hands-on execution. You will play a key role in strengthening community connections, leading fundraising initiatives, and enhancing the visibility and impact of both OSNS and the OSNS Legacy Foundation.
This position requires strong communication skills, initiative, and a sense of humor, as no two weeks are the same. This includes collaborating with the Legacy Foundation Board of Directors and the full OSNS team to identify priorities as you will be representing the Legacy Foundation and the OSNS at community events, along with raising awareness and education, and speaking to various groups/individual about the services OSNS provides.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Community & Donor Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, community partners, and business supporters
- Develop and implement donor engagement, stewardship, and recognition strategies
- Increase awareness of OSNS programs, services, and impact within the community
- Lead tours, presentations, and outreach opportunities for supporters and partners
- Support and grow volunteer engagement initiatives
- Overall strategy and execution of all OSNS signature events, and provide high quality guest experiences
- Includes all aspects of event administration, including planning / executing event logistics
- coordinating vendors, volunteers, committees and / or staff; event software management; photography as needed; event promotion; sponsor /donor outreach & recognition; and event analysis
Fundraising & Events
- Lead the planning and execution of all fundraising initiatives and campaigns
- Manage OSNS signature events from concept to completion, including logistics, vendors, sponsorship, and evaluation
- Support third-party fundraising events and community-led initiatives
- Identify and develop new revenue opportunities to support organizational sustainability
- Collaborate on grant applications and funding proposals
Marketing & Communications
- Collaborate internally to develop engaging content across digital and print platforms (social media, website, newsletters, campaigns, brochures)
- Coordinate media relations, including press releases, interviews, and event promotion
- Ensure consistent branding and messaging aligned with OSNS values and strategy
- Collaborate internally on the creation of marketing materials, reports, and promotional materials
Legacy Foundation & Internal Collaboration
- Partner closely with the OSNS Legacy Foundation Board to support fundraising priorities and donor strategies
- Prepare board meeting materials, reports, and communications
- Work in collaboration with the Foundation Board Chair to identify, cultivate and strategize communication plan to engage new potential donors
- Support donor cultivation and engagement for the Foundation’s endowment growth
- Oversee donor database management, including tracking, reporting, and tax receipting
- Contribute to Foundation materials such as annual reports, proposals, and communications
Educational Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in marketing or communications preferred
- Nonprofit Management & Foundation administration an asset
- 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, event management, or community engagement
- Experience planning and delivering medium to large-scale events
- Knowledge of ethical fundraising practises, including principles reflected in the AFP Code of Ethical Standards is an asset (Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Standards)
Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Strong public speaking and presentation abilities
- Strategic thinker with strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to organize priorities in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in social media platforms, digital communications, and Microsoft Office tools
- Experience with design tools and web content management is an asset
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Experience working in a pediatric setting is considered an asset
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for events and community engagement
- Project participation and or lead role in program related projects
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $58,733 – $73,417 annually, based on experience and qualifications

Status
- .8 FTE or 1.0 Full Time (30 to 37.5 hours a week)
Hours of Work
- 9:00 - 5:00, including some nontraditional hours (evenings & weekends, to be arranged with the employee and employer)
Location
- Penticton, BC – with some travel to outlying communities
