Role: Community Event & Administrative Support Role
Reports to: Operations Manager
Status: Part-time; 6-month term (15 hrs+ per week)
Hours of Work: Afternoons, some evenings and some weekends, non-traditional hours to be arranged with the employee and employer
Location: Penticton, BC – with some travel to outlying communities
Wage & Benefits: $25.25 an hour pending education and experience (this is an excluded employee role/non-union)
The OSNS Child and Youth Development Centre is a vibrant, not-for-profit organization providing clinical intervention and support services to children and youth with a variety of developmental support needs. We work in a family-centered, child-focused environment and enjoy close community partnerships. We are continuously evolving to reflect best practices of intervention. JOB SUMMARY
The Community Event & Administrative Support will be a dynamic team player who loves to interact with children, families, businesses, community partners, staff, and board members. Someone who loves creating and carrying out engaging events that bring people-families community, and stakeholders together. Collaboration, partnering and excellent teamwork skills are a must. The ability to shift quickly between priorities and bring ideas to life, while meeting multiple deadlines is essential. This role demands an entrepreneurial individual with a high level of empathy and intrinsic motivation.
Every week of work will be different, and you will be enthusiastic, solution focused with a sense of humour. Flexibility, curiosity and creativity are key given the ever-evolving nature of our pediatrics and childcare environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Engage partners, businesses, and the broader community.
- Support and/or lead new and existing fundraising opportunities and community initiatives, including event setup and cleanup, volunteer and participant coordination, advertising needs assessments, ticket sales tracking, and troubleshooting.
- Work collaboratively with the team to facilitate events and support the Centre’s day-to-day administrative operations.
- Identify opportunities to communicate with key audiences and networks, including developing strategies and leading their execution.
- Create stories and content for both print and digital media.
- Support website updates and design.
- Support grant writing and submission processes
- Perform other related duties as required.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proficiency with digital media tools to support communications and engagement.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Ability to attract, engage, and coordinate volunteers, and follow up effectively with community supporters.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with online communication tools, including email marketing platforms and social media.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to consistently demonstrate tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to produce high-quality content and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education, training, and experience equivalent to Grade 12 plus post-secondary training in communications, marketing, public relations, event planning, business, or office administration.
- Proficiency with online communication technologies, including email marketing and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated experience using Excel spreadsheets and presentation software.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work independently and resolve administrative support challenges both internally and externally.
- Experience working in a pediatric setting is considered an asset.
- Ability to pass an updated criminal record check
- Valid BC Driver's License
