The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist in the technical aspects of prescription filling and administrative duties in order to increase the Pharmacist's opportunity to provide optimal patient care. The Pharmacy Technician is expected to participate in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations required of a team player. They are a key member in the delivery of superior customer service.

  • Receive and transcribe verbal prescriptions from practitioners
  • Prepare and process prescriptions by performing duties such as entering orders, counting, measuring, compounding, packaging, or repackaging medications
  • Ensure the accuracy of a prepared prescription
  • Perform the final check of a prepared prescription
  • Ensure the accuracy of drug and personal health information in patient records
  • Set realistic customer expectations as to wait times
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and privacy requirements

In the day-in-the-life of a Pharmacy Technician, at Pharmacy for Life in Hartland, NB, you will provide front line service to patients & customers by receiving and transcribing verbal prescriptions from practitioners, preparing and processing  prescriptions by performing duties such as entering orders, counting, measuring, compounding, packaging, or repackaging medications, ensuring the accuracy of a prepared prescription and performing the final check of a prepared prescription.   You will also ensure the accuracy of drug and personal health information in patient records, set realistic customer expectations as to wait times as well as adhering to all confidentiality and privacy requirements


Qualifications:  Attention to detail, excellent customer service skills, confidentiality, adaptability to change, problem solving capabilities, great collaboration and strong communication skills, positive attitude.


Education & Experience:  

  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
  • Licensed and in good standing with the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists
  • General knowledge of pharmacy operations, drug plans, procedures, processes and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with a team
  • Compounding experience is an asset
