About the Role:  

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications and Community, the Advisor, Communications and Public Affairs executes communications activities with a focus on digital communications, aimed at enhancing the business’s positioning and supporting public affairs activities generally. They are also a key player in our continued efforts to engage with the local community and enhance the airport’s reputation. 

 The ideal candidate is a self-starter that enjoys wearing multiple hats. We are seeking a driven team player who enjoys a high-energy environment and who keeps a pulse on what’s happening in the community as it relates to the organization’s priorities and partnerships.  

Key Accountabilities:  

• Support day-to-day communications activities and initiatives and issues management. 

• Manage social media channels with the goal of growing social presence to drive awareness and engagement. 

• Social and digital content development and programming, including community management.  

• Ownership of daily media clippings to support local, political and aviation awareness.    

• Website management. 

• Support on the development of materials, messaging, and execution of events for employees in support of executives.   

• Development of internal and external documents including newsletter content and presentations to a variety of audiences.  

• Provide support to the larger Public Affairs team, including activities with stakeholders, community and government.  

• Represent Nieuport at selected community events, demonstrating Nieuport’s commitment to our community partnerships and building external relationships and partnerships.  

• Handle various ad hoc matters and participate in different projects, as assigned. 

Key Qualifications: 

Education & Certifications  

• Completion of a post-secondary program in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Media or related field 

• Bilingualism is an asset (English/French)   

Knowledge, Skills & Experience 

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Communications, Public Affairs or a related field  

• Proven ability in social media content and digital community management   

• Political acumen and relationship builder, both internal and external    

• Understanding of the interplay of public affairs areas (community, government relations, communications)   

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, editing   

• Strong attention to detail   

• Understanding and experience within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment   

• Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize workload 

• Familiarity with (or passion for) the aviation industry is a plus 

• Must be eligible to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
