ABOUT US:
At New School Foods, our mission is to accelerate the transition to a sustainable food system. Using our proprietary and purpose-built production technologies, we are creating the next generation of meat and seafood alternatives, which are designed to appeal to the average consumer. Our first product is a delicious plant-based filet that looks, cooks, tastes and flakes like Salmon, that’s full of Omega 3’ and protein. All with a lower carbon footprint, zero mercury, and made without harming the ocean.
Working alongside our Mechanical, Industrial, and Software engineers our Senior Engineer - Controls/Automation will help build the foundations for a fully automated production line. From choosing and implementing hardware to collaborating on process design, this role will help bring our production line to the next level.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Transform our existing manual manufacturing processes in automated solutions.
- Work with the Commercialization and Engineering team to develop a roadmap for optimizing and scaling our process.
- Own the project plans and budget for ongoing automation initiatives.
- Oversee a team of engineers and support them with planning, design and execution.
- Support in the design of new manufacturing processes, providing technical guidance on how to best automate and scale.
- Plan, execute, and report on trials to support the optimization and growth of our production line.
- Create schematics and drawings for electrical needs and upgrades.
- Ensure all designs are compliant with all food defense and safety regulations.
- Maintain and update existing systems.
- Draft documentation (SOPs, how to guides, etc) for all new processes and procedures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors.
YOU WILL BRING:
- A Bachelors or certificate in automation, engineering or related field.
- Experience in food, cannabis, medical or related environment is a plus.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
- Strong people management skills.
- Understanding and knowledge of various instruments and tools in scientific experimentation and data analysis.
- Adaptable in a high paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability lift up to 20lbs.
- High attention to detail.
