What We’re Looking For:

Narcity Media is looking for a motivated Technical Product Manager to help support existing products and to help build the organization’s content distribution channels, such as email, SMS & push notifications.

In this role, you’ll work closely with the product team and development partners to create and maintain a backlog that aligns with company-level KPIs while ensuring a good ROI and an amazing user experience for our readers.

As the Technical Product Manager, you’ll be responsible for the discovery and validation of real user and business value in addition to leading the prioritization of work against clear outcome-oriented goals. You will support with development on front-end work such as JavaScript, HTML and CSS where needed, and you will be the go-to person for anything related to the API connections between our various tools (OneSignal, RSS Feeds, SendGrid, Integromat, Formstack and more). You will also be responsible for ensuring maximum code quality from our development partners and be the point of contact for any technical issues that fall outside normal day-to-day operations across all our sites and properties.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Contributing to vision, strategy and the establishment of KPIs based on market research, an understanding user needs and of company goals
  • Driving objectives and releases by owning the team’s backlog and the implementation of features and how they all work together
  • Ensuring extremely high PageSpeed and code quality across all of our front-end websites and software
  • Building fail-safe API connections between our various tools and alert software to proactively ensure 99.9% uptime of all our services
  • Evaluating APIs and capabilities, mapping out integration plans or evaluating different technology options
  • Assessing developer time estimates, defining technical specifications, architecture and scalability
  • Analyzing performance indicators, evaluating experiments and owning data reports
  • Own all front-end data tagging with Google Analytics and our CDP software
  • Managing prioritization by assessing trade-offs between on-time delivery, breadth and depth of functionality
  • Facilitating the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation
  • Serving as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to internal stakeholders and external partners

Track record:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a Technical Product Management role; ideally in the context of a high traffic website
  • 3-5 years of experience developing in JavaScript, HTML and CSS
  • 1-3 years of working with CMS software and various API connections
  • Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality digital experiences
  • A ruthless focus on what should be next balancing technical constraints and a differentiated product in order to maximize value
  • Extremely meticulous on proper UX and UI integration, every pixel matters
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A delivery-oriented mindset and enjoy wearing multiple hats

Position Type:

This is a 37.5 hours/week job with possibility of full-time employment with benefits after 1 year. 100% remote.
