Narcity.com is looking for a motivated and creative UI Designer to join our rapidly expanding Product team. The UI Designer will play a pivotal role in our daily operations by managing the visual output experience for our products, and they will report to our UX Designer.

We are seeking a results-driven and organized self-starter. They are excited to be involved in every aspect of the digital creation process. They will be responsible for developing consistent visual experiences that address our business and user needs. Additionally, they will have the freedom to use their full range of interaction and design skills, from brainstorming to tweaking pixels before a launch (and more).

The right person should have experience translating project scopes and user insights into a clean, high-quality user interface. They should also be solutions-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Most importantly, they should be passionate about working alongside like-minded creatives on an enthusiastic team.

  • Manage all UI initiatives at Narcity Media and work closely with the Product, Design, and Engineering teams to ensure uniformity while respecting industry best practices.
  • Create clean, consistent UI surfaces and wireframes with excellent usability, while respecting UX recommendations and technical constraints.
  • Design, prototype, and test multiple ideas quickly to validate product UI/UX direction.
  • Conduct optimized layout adjustments to digital products (e.g. newsletter, responsive web products, and app) based on user feedback & research.
  • Identify and troubleshoot UI problems (e.g. responsiveness).
  • Develop moodboards for various design needs and requirements throughout business.
  • Ensure consistency with branding and marketing efforts and help to establish design guidelines for future product initiatives.

Track record:

  • 1-3 years of experience doing visual/UI design for web, desktop or mobile applications.
  • Portfolio of relevant UI design work from shipped products/ apps/ services.
  • Some combination of training and experience in UI design.
  • Ability to work with industry tools such as Figma, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • A background in visual design, product design, along with a basic technical knowledge and UX constraints.

Position Type:

This is a permanent position based anywhere in Canada because we are a flexible-first company. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
