Created by the provincial government, the DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services divested to the municipal order of government, including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services (Land Ambulance), Non-Urgent Patient Transportation, and Early Learning and Child Care Services.

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is comprised of 14 board members and has been in existence for 25 years. With three main departments, Integrated Human Services, Paramedic Services, and Administration, and over 200 employees, we service a large geographical area totaling 45,000 square km. Our organization is responsible for the development and execution of annual budgets exceeding $50 million. We are proud to serve our communities, and we remain committed to our mission of delivering effective, fair, and safe services to our residents.
The Opportunity
We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as an Information Technology (IT) Summer Student. The position will be in Espanola, ON, within our Finance and Administration Department.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with formatting, proofreading, and updating IT-related policies, procedures, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) based on the strategic plan.
- Organize electronic files (naming, version control, review dates, and document status) and maintain a simple tracking log of documents and approvals.
- Compile information from staff (notes, emails, existing documents) and prepare draft GovAI folios and Assistants.
- Prepare basic checklists, forms, and reference sheets to support internal communications and staff guidance (administrative preparation only).
- Schedule and track document review meetings, follow up on outstanding feedback, and record decisions/changes.
- Perform other administrative duties related to strategic plan implementation support, as assigned.
Scope / Limitations
- This is not a technical or operational IT role. The student will not be responsible for system administration, configuration changes, cabling, device setup, or direct technical support.
- Access to systems and information will be limited to what is required for assigned administrative duties.
Qualifications and Specific Skills:
Education: Minimum one year of related post-secondary education. Confirmation of return to school.
Skills:
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow instructions, and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook/Teams).
