The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.


Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year-round private club that offers golf, curling, fitness tennis, dining and social amenities. Our Tudor style Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.


Position Summary

The Facility Supervisor will work closely with the Facility Manager to ensure that all areas of the Clubhouse, including dining areas, offices, washrooms, locker rooms and external facilities (range hut, tennis house, and halfway house) are maintained to the highest standard.


Key Responsibilities

o Facility Supervisor will assist the Facility Manager with the overall maintenance of the facility. This will include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, building equipment repairs along with painting, carpentry and special projects. Liaise with external contractors and inspectors, identify and assess maintenance issues and conduct daily inspections of the facility.

o They will be responsible for dealing with daily maintenance operational issues. Will assist with scheduling, delegating tasks (if applicable), coordinating event set ups and deal with any life safety matters with a sense of urgency and priority.

o Deal with any direct reports in a respectful and professional manner. Comply with the Employee Standards Act as defined by the Ministry of Labour. Employment Standards Act, 2000

o The Facility Supervisor will be responsible for dealing with emergency situations, settling disputes and answering inquiries.

o Address daily operational deficiencies and improve productivity. Develop ideas to improve the overall maintenance of the facility.

o Assist with capitals projects when required.

o They will ensure proper use of safety equipment by contractors and staff.

o Responsible for recording and reporting any accidents, injuries and emergency situations.

o Deal with fire inspectors, safety inspectors and city inspectors when needed.

o Ensure that all staff follow the clubhouse policies and procedures.

o Attend weekly staff meetings when the facility manager is not available

o Contact contractors as needed based on priority situations and good judgement

o General knowledge of the operating budget and practice due diligence to maintain budget constraints

o Collaborate with staff on ways to improve deficiencies within the maintenance department.

o Attend meetings with contractors, architects, designers and engineers when required.

o Continue to develop leadership skills with training and education.

o Willing to respond to after hour emergencies when needed

o Assess mechanical malfunctions and contact appropriate service provider.

o Assist with maintaining log books pertaining to projects and HVAC systems.

o Take receipt of deliveries and store items relating to maintenance.

o Report maintenance deficiencies to the Facility Manager.

o Carry out repairs and maintenance work as requested by the Facility Manager, ensuring that the work is carried out safely, efficiently and with minimum disruption to members and guests.

o Perform cleanup at the end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, spills, debris, cleaning work areas and completing touch-up work as needed.

o Develop thorough knowledge of all fire emergency systems.

o Complete monthly audits of fire extinguishers.

o Ensure that all effort is made to repair faults to rooms without delay to avoid any inconvenience to members.

o Perform preparatory work for maintenance activities, including gathering equipment, materials, supplies and loading and unloading materials.

o Communicate and interact effectively with co-workers, members, guests and supervisors.

o Assist in other departments when required.

o Perform a variety of routine physical labour tasks.

o Work independently or in a team situation.

o Some office assistance may be required such as answering telephones, receiving deliveries, filing documents and ordering building products.

o Attend a weekly operational meeting.

o Participate as a certified member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee and actively promote a safe work environment.

o Build and maintain positive relations with all departments and respond with a sense of urgency to maintenance service requests.

o With every task completed, ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, building code and health and safety issues.

o Collaborate with the Facility Manager to coordinate major building efficiencies and repairs.

o Performs all work in a safe, cautious manner and professional manner – must wear Personal Protective Equipment and use all machine safety guards at all times. Heavy lifting, kneeling and bending involved.

o Assist with setting up rooms for events and functions.

o Performs other duties as directed by Facility Manager.

o Work closely with the food and beverage department to coordinate special event functions.


Requirements

o 5 - 7 years of proven previous experience performing general building maintenance and repairs in a high-end, professional environment.

o Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree or equivalent is required.

o Must have advanced knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, painting and general repair.

o Experience with power saws, maintenance equipment and general shop tools is required.

o Ability to work with chemicals and solvents.

o Must be willing to advance skill level pertaining to maintenance.

o Valid driver’s license required.

o Pleasant, respectful and professional when communicating with others.

o Blueprint reading an asset.

o Must have accurate measuring skills.

o Service oriented – courteous and friendly.

o Must be able to perform work with minimal supervision.

o Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

o Strong work ethic – hard working, reliable and positive attitude.

o Work in an efficient manner while managing multiple tasks and priorities.

o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to meet tight deadlines when required.

o Detail oriented.

o Must have no difficulty with sitting, standing, climbing stairs, walking, bending, crouching and kneeling.

o Required to work both indoors and outdoors.

o Available to work a flexible schedule, including morning and afternoon hours on weekdays and weekends.

o Good time management skills.

o Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel.

o Provide a criminal background certificate.

Compensation: $50-$55k
