About us

The Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is one of Canada’s top private all-season golf clubs, with a diverse membership of 1,400 members and an outstanding Tier One golf course famous for its excellence. The Club has played host to numerous premier events, including six Canadian Opens.

Founded in 1906, MG&CC is a year round private club that offers golf, curling and tennis, dining, fitness and social amenities. Our Tudor Clubhouse is a spectacular venue for casual and fine dining, banquets, weddings and various social events and functions.

Position Summary

Mississaugua Golf and Country Club is seeking a Bar Steward to join out fast paced Food and Beverage Department. The Bar Steward will be responsible for providing the highest level of quality service to members and guests in our dining room facility.

Key Responsibilities

o Provide professional, responsive and friendly beverage & food service to members / guests

o Demonstrate complete and accurate knowledge of the full menu, wine and drink list, dessert menu, specials and buffet items

o Be attentive to members’ needs, circulate the room and respond quickly. Always be ready to take food and beverage orders with chits and pencils on hand at all times

o Spot opportunities to offer suggestions for beverages, refill empty glasses and up-sell to increase sales

o Use good judgment and discretion when serving alcohol

o Recommend wines, dessert wines and liqueurs to accompany food items on the menu

o Stock bar with adequate wines, liquor, beer, pop, juices, fruit, glassware, ice swizzle sticks, napkins, straws etc.

o Handle complaints with professionalism and tact. Take action if possible or escalate to the supervisor

o Maintain a safe and clean bar environment – ensure all glassware and machines are clean, all surfaces are wiped and all equipment is turned off at shift end

o Ensure all members are accurately charged for their chits, create a summary and end of shift report. Place all chits at the main bar for processing

o Perform thorough close out procedures, including; clean and stock the bar area, remove all garbage and recyclables, empty wine buckets, clean patio furniture etc.

o Follow all Health & Safety policies and F&B procedures & standards


o Full knowledge of mixed drinks, wines, liqueurs and cognacs

o Ability to mix drinks and know how to prepare a variety of cocktails and fancy drinks

o Working knowledge of proper glassware use, handling techniques and garnishing

o Pleasant, respectful and professional when communicating with others

o Commitment to delivering exceptional service – courteous and friendly

o Commitment to teamwork and cooperation

o Effectively follow established health & safety / F&B guidelines and policies

o Contribute to a positive work environment and demonstrate a positive attitude

o Work in an efficient manner while managing multiple tasks and priorities

o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

o Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with diverse people, including kitchen and dining staff
