Position Overview:
Working closely with the Director of Finance and individual company Controllers and/or Bookkeepers, the Senior Financial Analyst plays a key role within the financial reporting team for the Mission Group of Companies at the parent level. This position is responsible for implementing and strengthening Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) infrastructure within a rapidly growing, acquisitive organization. The role includes supporting integration activities, system conversions, financial analysis, and team development to enhance reporting processes across the corporate group. The goal is to build the systems and capabilities required to deliver timely, accurate reporting and meaningful operational insights. This position requires a collaborative approach across the business, grounded in quality, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the CFO and based in Mission’s Calgary office, this role has a broad scope and is responsible for coordinating financial initiatives across the Mission Group of Companies. The focus is on strengthening financial reporting functions and treasury management in a fast-growing environment.
- Cash forecasting and treasury management, including monitoring cash balances across the MESG group, analyzing sources and uses of cash, and developing a rolling three-month cash forecast to support liquidity management and decision-making.
- Overseeing access rights and administration of bank reporting portals across the organization.
- Coaching and supporting accounting staff through system and process changes.
- Assisting the Director of Finance with review of working papers, monthly financial close processes, and reporting of financial results to operational leaders, with a focus on improving financial literacy across the organization.
- Evaluating existing systems, processes, and capabilities to improve reporting efficiency, speed, and relevance.
- Supporting the development of financial reporting cadences and standardized operational reporting across the Mission Group.
- Preparing financial analysis and reporting to support capital allocation decisions.
- Supporting operational and administrative transition activities as required.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications:
- Professional CPA designation, with experience in a multi-entity corporate environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, mentor, and coach team members, contributing to a strong and aligned accounting function across the group.
- Strong ability to engage with operational leaders, translate financial information into actionable insights, and support business decision-making.
- Solid understanding of accounting standards, including Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
- Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and MS Office; experience with QuickBooks is an asset.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines.
