Accounting Clerk

The Accounting Clerk supports the College’s Finance Department by performing accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), journal entries, and other routine accounting functions. This role ensures accurate financial recordkeeping, timely processing of transactions, and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable including reviewing invoices, matching purchase orders, coding expenses, and preparing payments.
- Manage accounts receivable including invoicing, monitoring outstanding balances, and following up on overdue accounts.
- Prepare and post journal entries and assist with general ledger maintenance.
- Reconcile accounts including bank statements, vendor accounts, student accounts, and other ledger balances.
- Verify, code, batch, and enter financial transactions accurately into the accounting system.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in accordance with College policies.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries (vendors, students, staff) regarding financial matters.
- Support budget tracking and reporting as required.
- Perform other related administrative and clerical duties within the Finance Department.
Qualifications
- Minimum secondary school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting support.
- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
