Term: Permanent full time position based on approved Budgets and funding.

Wage: Equivalent to SD 58


Summary:

We are seeking a passionate Grade school Teacher for the Lower Nicola Band School beginning August 28th, 2023.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Education degree.
  • BC teacher certification.
  • Teaching experience is preferred; however, we are willing to accept new graduates.
  • Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community.
  • Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices.
  • A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology and able to incorporate technology into their daily practice.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth.
  • Motivate students to develop learning skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each students ability;
  • Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;
  • Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of nłeʔkepmxc culture (the successful candidate will be supported heavily with this).
  • Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings;
  • Keep up to date with developments in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities.
  • Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and supervision duties.

All COVID-19 precautions are taken at the home, masks, gloves, hand sanitizers, and social distancing protocols as necessary. All staff are assisted in feeling safe and comfortable while performing their duties.
