Position Title: 2 related positions: Early Child Educator, and ECE Program Coordinator.

Department: Lower Nicola Indian Band School

Hours: up to 30 per week

Start Date: ASAP

Wage: $24-$30 hour depending on experience and education

Summary of responsibilities

Provide service to children ages 0 to 4 years and parents, including K3, K4, Parent/Tot Drop in services.

Follows policies and procedures as outlined by the Ministry in accordance with licensing policies and LNIB policies

Ensure guidance of children that encourages positive self-esteem

Facilitate a respectful conflict resolution process when dealing with difficult staff and parent/guardian issues

Implement a problem solving approach with practical solutions when faced with difficult situations

Duties Include:

· Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties;

· Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records;

· Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children;

· Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours;

· Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children;

· Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest;

· Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits;

· Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor;

· Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children;

· Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members;

· Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children

Required knowledge, skills and abilities

· First Aid Certificate;

· Early Childhood Education (ECE) Certificate and current BC Registration

· - 5 years experince for the Coordinator position

- 6-months+ for the new ECE position

· Must successfully pass Criminal record check with vulnerable persons;

· Basic security clearance;
