POSITION PURPOSE:

This position exists to support the mission and vision of Lifecentre Church by leading the Connections Ministry at the Orleans Campus. The Assistant Pastor, Connections is responsible for creating intentional pathways that help people move from first-time guests to fully engaged followers of Jesus through hospitality, discipleship, pastoral care, volunteer leadership, and ministry oversight. Working alongside the pastoral team, this role helps people encounter Jesus, experience authentic community, and take meaningful next steps in their faith.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bible college, ministry training, or post-secondary education in ministry, theology, leadership, education, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent ministry experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • 1–3 years of experience working or volunteering in a ministry setting or a relevant administrative role.
  • Self-motivated, driven, and able to prioritize
  • Able to walk with people from guests to members of Lifecentre
  • Knowledgeable in connection and spiritual formation processes.
  • Possess excellent communication and writing skills
  • Able to initiate, execute and manage effective systems that better care for people
  • Willing to learn new programs as needed
  • Results-focused leadership with persuasive interpersonal skills adaptable to a variety of personalities and situations.
  • Holds credentials (or willing to work towards) with PAOC or Ministers Network Canada


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: As Lifecentre continues to grow and expand its ministry, the Assistant Pastor, Connections provides spiritual leadership, pastoral care, ministry oversight, and leadership development within the Connections Ministry at the Orleans Campus. This role is responsible for advancing the mission and vision of Lifecentre by creating intentional pathways that help people connect, grow, serve, and become fully engaged in the life of the church.


Primary responsibilities include leading the Connections Ministry, developing leaders and volunteers, providing pastoral care and follow-up, overseeing ministry systems and events, and collaborating with the pastoral team to create environments where people can encounter Jesus, experience authentic community, and take meaningful next steps in their faith.


Specific responsibilities are outlined in Appendix A. As Lifecentre continues to grow and evolve, these responsibilities may be modified from time to time to meet the changing needs of the ministry.

2. Lead the Connections Ministry [ 40% ]

The Assistant Pastor, Connections provides vision, leadership, and oversight for the Connections Ministry by creating intentional pathways that help people move from first-time guests to fully engaged followers of Jesus. This role develops healthy volunteer teams, strengthens the guest experience, and continually evaluates ministry strategies to help people connect, belong, grow, and serve within the life of the church.


3. Provide Pastoral Care & Leadership [ 25% ]

The Assistant Pastor, Connections provides pastoral care, discipleship, and leadership development by building meaningful relationships, equipping volunteers, and helping individuals take their next steps in their spiritual journey. This role ensures people are cared for with compassion, excellence, and intentionality while fostering a culture of belonging and spiritual growth.


4. Lead Ministry Administration & Events [ 20% ]

The Assistant Pastor, Connections provides administrative leadership that supports the effective operation of the Connections Ministry. This includes overseeing ministry systems, coordinating events and connection opportunities, managing communications and ministry processes, and ensuring ministry initiatives are organized, effective, and continuously improving.


5. Support the Mission & Ministry of Lifecentre [ 15% ]

As a member of the pastoral team, the Assistant Pastor, Connections actively contributes to the overall health, mission, and vision of Lifecentre Church. This includes collaborating across ministries, supporting church-wide initiatives, developing leaders, and serving wherever needed to advance the mission of Lifecentre.

This includes living with integrity, humility, and authenticity while supporting the mission, vision, and culture of Lifecentre Church. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Maintain a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ through regular prayer, Bible study, and spiritual disciplines.
  • Participate actively in the life of Lifecentre Church, including regular involvement in a Lifecentre Small Group.
  • Model Christ-like character, humility, integrity, and servant leadership in all areas of life and ministry.
  • Establish healthy personal and professional boundaries that protect character, relationships, and ministry effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate generosity through the faithful stewardship of time, talents, and resources.
  • Pursue opportunities to share the Gospel and make disciples within and beyond the church community.

2. Lead the Connections Ministry [ 40% ]

The Assistant Pastor, Connections provides vision, leadership, and oversight for the Connections Ministry by creating intentional pathways that help people move from first-time guests to fully engaged followers of Jesus. This role develops healthy volunteer teams, strengthens the guest experience, and continually evaluates ministry strategies to help people connect, belong, grow, and serve within the life of the church. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for Lifecentre’s Connections Ministry.
  • Lead and continually improve the guest-to-engagement pathway, helping people move from first-time guests to active participation in the life of the church.
  • Oversee and lead connection ministries such as Planted, Rooted, Connection Cards, Next Steps, and related discipleship pathways.
  • Champion pathways into baptism, membership, Life Groups, serving teams, and other opportunities for spiritual growth.
  • Recruit, develop, coach, and care for Connections Ministry volunteers and leaders.
  • Foster a welcoming culture where every guest and attendee feels seen, valued, and invited into community.
  • Evaluate ministry effectiveness using feedback, participation, and engagement metrics to strengthen the ministry’s impact.
  • Develop annual ministry goals, key performance indicators, and strategic plans for the Connections Ministry in collaboration with the Campus Pastor.

  • Follow up with guests, attendees, and individuals expressing interest in baptism, membership, serving, or discipleship opportunities.
  • Build meaningful relationships that encourage people to take their next step in their faith journey.
  • Equip, mentor, and develop volunteer leaders within the Connections Ministry.
  • Collaborate with the pastoral team to ensure pastoral needs are responded to with compassion, excellence, and timely care.
  • Connect individuals with appropriate ministries, Life Groups, or pastoral resources based on their needs.


4. Lead Ministry Administration & Events [ 20% ]

The Assistant Pastor, Connections provides administrative leadership that supports the effective operation of the Connections Ministry. This includes overseeing ministry systems, coordinating events and connection opportunities, managing communications and ministry processes, and ensuring ministry initiatives are organized, effective, and continuously improving. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Plan and oversee Planted, Rooted, and other connection experiences throughout the year.
  • Coordinate registrations, communications, volunteer scheduling, logistics, and event execution.
  • Maintain accurate ministry records, databases, reports, and follow-up systems.
  • Develop and improve ministry systems and administrative workflows that support effective ministry.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of campus events and church-wide initiatives as assigned.
  • Ensure ministry resources, communications, and planning are completed with excellence and attention to detail.


5. Support the Mission & Ministry of Lifecentre [ 15% ]

As a member of the pastoral team, the Assistant Pastor, Connections actively contributes to the overall health, mission, and vision of Lifecentre Church. This includes collaborating across ministries, supporting church-wide initiatives, developing leaders, and serving wherever needed to advance the mission of Lifecentre. Includes, but is not limited to:

  • Serve as a collaborative member of the pastoral team, contributing to the overall health and mission of Lifecentre Church.
  • Support campus ministries, special events, conferences, and church-wide initiatives as directed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, leadership meetings, retreats, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop leaders and encourage collaboration across ministry teams.
  • Use personal gifts, leadership, and initiative to strengthen the overall ministry of Lifecentre Church.


Flexibility of Duties: As Lifecentre continues to grow and evolve, employees may be assigned additional or modified responsibilities that are reasonably related to their position, skills, and organizational needs. Such changes do not alter the fundamental nature of the position and will be communicated as appropriate.

Additional Required Activities

The sample workweek outlined above reflects the employee’s regular scheduled office hours. Due to the nature of ministry, employees should expect to participate in additional activities outside their regular schedule as part of their salaried compensation.

These activities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Sunday services and ministry responsibilities (where applicable to the position).
  • Staff meetings, leadership meetings, and department meetings.
  • Annual staff retreats, training, and professional development.
  • Annual Business Meetings and congregational meetings.
  • Church-wide events, conferences, and ministry initiatives.
  • Volunteer appreciation events and leadership gatherings.
  • Periodic evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Other duties reasonably related to the position.


The frequency and specific expectations for these activities vary by position and will be outlined in the employee’s Employment Agreement and applicable Schedule(s). Employees are expected to fulfill these responsibilities as part of their overall role and compensation.
