About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, self-directed Consultant to join KTB Marine on a contract basis, supporting a significant digital transformation engagement with a major client in the maritime and energy sector.

This is a client-facing leadership role for someone who has genuinely led consulting or transformation engagements before — not just supported them. You will serve as the day-to-day engagement lead on a complex discovery and digital transformation project, owning the project structure, driving stakeholder workstreams, and producing high-quality client deliverables with a significant degree of independence. Senior oversight will be available for quality assurance and strategic direction, but the expectation is clear: you run the engagement.

The ideal candidate brings a proven track record in project or change management, a structured and confident approach to client environments, and the professional maturity to make sound judgement calls without being hand-held. Experience in or genuine enthusiasm for the maritime, energy, or supply chain sectors will be a meaningful advantage.

This engagement is initially scoped around a discovery phase, with the potential for the relationship to extend and deepen as the project evolves and as KTB Marine continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Engagement Leadership & Delivery

  • Serve as the day-to-day lead on client engagements — owning the project plan, structuring workstreams, and driving delivery against agreed timelines and milestones
  • Build and maintain a clear picture of project status, risks, decisions, and dependencies, and communicate proactively with both the client and KTB Marine leadership
  • Develop and maintain core project documentation: charters, project plans, RACI matrices, risk registers, decision logs, and status reports
  • Anticipate delivery challenges before they become problems — proactively restructuring the work or resetting expectations as needed
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the scope of the engagement or develop additional mandates with the client

Stakeholder Management & Client Relationships

  • Build trusted, productive relationships with client stakeholders at all levels — from operational teams to senior executives
  • Navigate complex organizational dynamics with sensitivity and professionalism, identifying and managing competing interests without losing momentum
  • Facilitate workshops, working sessions, and steering committee meetings with confidence and credibility
  • Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, managing expectations, managing up, and maintaining confidence in the engagement throughout

Discovery & Current-State Assessment

  • Structure and execute rigorous discovery processes, assessing operational workflows, organizational structures, processes, technology environments, and data landscapes
  • Synthesize findings from multiple sources — interviews, documentation, observation, and data — into a coherent, well-evidenced picture of the current state
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities with clear analytical rigour and practical grounding
  • Work closely with KTB Marine's internal data and technical team to incorporate specialized findings into the broader engagement narrative

Process Optimization & Improvement

  • Apply structured improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent) to identify, prioritize, and develop actionable recommendations
  • Design and facilitate process mapping exercises, translating operational complexity into clear current-state and future-state process flows
  • Develop implementation roadmaps that are grounded in operational realities and organizational capacity — not just theoretical best practice
  • Support clients through the execution of process changes, including the development of standard operating procedures, performance metrics, and governance frameworks

Change Management & People-Centred Delivery

  • Approach every engagement with an explicit focus on the human dimension of change — recognizing that the quality of a recommendation is only as valuable as the organization's ability to adopt it
  • Develop stakeholder engagement plans, communication frameworks, and training materials that build organizational readiness and reduce resistance
  • Assess organizational change capacity and tailor the pace, framing, and sequencing of recommendations accordingly
  • Support the development of transition planning and implementation roadmap materials, with clear ownership and accountability structures

Client-Facing Deliverables & Communications

  • Develop high-quality reports, presentations, and recommendations for client leadership — translating complex findings into clear, well-structured narratives with strong flow and appropriate visual support
  • Tailor messaging and communication style to different audiences: operational teams, middle management, and executive leadership
  • Present findings and recommendations confidently and credibly — able to hold a room, field hard questions, and defend a position under pressure
  • Maintain a consistently high standard across all written and visual deliverables; everything that leaves the engagement reflects on KTB Marine

Creative Problem-Solving & Analytical Thinking

  • Bring genuine intellectual curiosity and creative thinking to client challenges — able to reframe problems, challenge assumptions, and identify non-obvious solutions
  • Structure ambiguous problems into tractable workstreams without waiting for a prescribed methodology
  • Balance analytical rigour with pragmatism — knowing when the analysis is sufficient and when to move to action
  • Draw on cross-industry and cross-functional experience to bring fresh perspectives to maritime and supply chain environments

Business Development

  • Identify and surface opportunities for additional or extended work within active client relationships — maintaining a commercial awareness throughout delivery
  • Contribute to proposal development and pitch preparation as opportunities arise
  • Represent KTB Marine professionally and credibly in all client-facing contexts, reinforcing the firm's positioning as a trusted advisory partner

What We're Looking For

Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience in a consulting, advisory, or transformation delivery role — with demonstrated experience leading engagements or major workstreams, not just supporting them
  • Proven track record managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects through a full lifecycle or through a structured discovery-to-recommendation arc
  • Hands-on experience with process improvement, operational assessment, and the development of actionable client-facing recommendations
  • Demonstrated experience with change management — not just awareness of the discipline, but genuine hands-on application
  • Experience in or meaningful exposure to maritime, supply chain, logistics, energy, or digital transformation is strongly preferred
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating structured thinking, strong client communication, and the ability to lead independently in complex environments

Qualifications

At least one of the following (or equivalent) is strongly preferred and will be given significant weight:

  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or CAPM
  • Prosci Change Management certification or equivalent (CCMP, ACMP)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher
  • Prince2, Agile/Scrum, SAFe, or similar project delivery qualification
  • A relevant postgraduate degree with a clear applied methodology component

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability to lead client conversations, facilitate workshops, and manage senior stakeholder relationships with confidence and credibility
  • Strong structured problem-solving — comfortable breaking down complex, ambiguous operational challenges into manageable components
  • Proficiency in process mapping and improvement methodologies; familiarity with tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or equivalent
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint — able to design clear, well-structured, visually compelling presentations for executive audiences
  • Proficiency in Excel for analysis, modelling, and reporting; familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools is a plus
  • Exceptional written English communication — precise, persuasive, and adaptable across audiences and formats
  • Commercial acumen — able to recognize and develop opportunities within client relationships

 Attributes

  • Genuine confidence in a client-facing environment — comfortable owning a room, leading difficult conversations, and presenting to senior leadership without being hand-held
  • A builder mindset — able to create structure, frameworks, and deliverables in ambiguous environments; equally comfortable starting from a blank page and refining existing work
  • People-first instinct — understands that lasting change is delivered through people, and approaches every engagement with that lens
  • Creative problem-solver — brings intellectual curiosity and lateral thinking to client challenges; not confined to standard frameworks when the situation calls for something different
  • Equally strategic and hands-on — willing to do the work, not just direct it; no task is beneath the role
  • Commercially aware — proactively identifies where additional value can be created and communicates those opportunities with appropriate timing and tact
  • High attention to detail — especially around logic, data, language, and the overall quality of client deliverables
  • Proactive and self-directed — identifies what needs to happen next and makes it happen without constant prompting
