About Kalamoir: Kalamoir is a Calgary-based Developer & General Contractor that specializes in a variety of different development projects including infill townhomes, large-scale greenfield townhome developments, low-to-mid rise multi-family buildings, and various commercial/specialty and civil/infrastructure projects. Roughly 70% of our portfolio is focused on residential developments with the other 30% allocated to commercial & infrastructure. The majority of our projects are based in Calgary and the surrounding municipalities, but we are continuing to grow our presence in Interior AB & BC, in municipalities including Canmore, Jasper, Revelstoke & Fernie.
A strong focus of Kalamoir is our preconstruction services where we are engaged early in the design development of projects so we can optimize value for clients through early budget and schedule preparation that are continually refined and updated leading up to formal tender and construction commencement.
Role Overview: The Carpenter is responsible for creating, installing, and repairing structures for residential and commercial projects. This full-time role involves conducting site visits and taking precise measurements, reviewing drawings, and liaising with suppliers and trades to align timelines and materials. The Carpenter designs, constructs, and installs wood and mixed-material structures, fixtures, and fittings using specialized machinery and tools, while supporting the site team to troubleshoot deficiencies and delays and ensure minimal defects. The successful candidate would primarily be working with our Site Superintendents and Construction Manager.
Key Accountabilities:
● Conduct site visits, take precise measurements, review drawings, and liaise with suppliers and trades to align timelines and materials.
● Design, construct, and install wood and mixed-material structures, fixtures, and fittings using specialized machinery and tools.
● Support the site team to troubleshoot and resolve deficiencies and delays, inspect finished work, and ensure minimal defects.
● Forecast and order tools and materials ahead of need to maintain workflow and meet project schedules.
Competencies and Skills:
● Certified Journeyman Carpenter
● Competent understanding of construction processes and standards, with the ability to review and understand drawings
● Independent problem solver with a clear communication style and an understanding of production targets
● Able to perform physically demanding work in various weather conditions and environments, including standing for long periods and lifting up to 45lbs.
● Reliable, hardworking, and a proactive self-starter who follows direction easily and adapts to changing work environments and teams
● Positive attitude with a curiosity for continuous learning, and accepts feedback and direction easily
● Proactive safety awareness
