About the Role:

Journey Education is seeking an Education Manager to build, manage and lead an all-star teaching team across our product lines (Concordia Bootcamps & Bluebird). You’ll work closely with our Product & Operations Director to define and prioritize the projects that will help us constantly reach our teaching goals. This includes but is not limited to building training material, hiring instructors, creating onboarding processes and defining team communication structures. Your role will be to tackle what is necessary so the quality of our teaching reaches high standards. In a nutshell, your role is to ensure our students love our instructors 😍 and get the most out of their teaching methods.


This is a full-time remote salaried position.

Responsibilities:

Team skills & performance

  • You will lead a team of contractual and permanent teaching staff to ensure they deliver the best learning experience possible to our students.
  • You will be responsible for our teachers’ training, auditing, giving them feedback, conducting performance reviews and evaluating potential teachers to build a solid team.
  • You will also be responsible for onboarding new instructors to ensure they understand our teaching expectations, the curriculum, tools that they will be using, and they are trained properly to be good instructors.
  • You'll work with the People & Culture Manager to improve instructor retention and engagement.

Team engagement

  • Conduct 1:1s with the teaching staff reporting to you to make sure they enjoy working with us and feel equipped to do their job in the best way possible.

Tools & Resources

  • You are responsible for providing our teachers with guidance and clarity as to what we are expecting from them.
  • You’ll work closely with our learning designer to build training and a knowledge base for our teachers and find the right tools to facilitate their job.
  • You will also act as an education matter expert for every teaching question and guidance.

Mentorship

  • You will be mentoring your lead instructors so they can act as great managers for their respective team. Give them the tools to perform as team leaders and empower them to make decisions that align with the product’s vision, mission and goals.

Audit & innovate

  • You have to know how our education services perform at all times. You know the challenges, gaps to fill and you have ideas to solve them.
  • You are always looking for better ways to teach our content and improve our student experience with the instructors.

About You:

  • 2-3 years experience in leading a team
  • Successful teaching or training experience in a virtual setting
  • Experience or proficiency in creating training materials
  • Empathy and people skills
  • Knowledge of the tech industry
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Nice to have: Experience in leading a teaching team, a group of training staff or any team in the educational sphere.
