At Jack.org, we support a national network of young leaders as they work to revolutionize mental health in their communities. While COVID-19 has surely impacted the way that we do things, our work is not slowing down. Our network of 3,000 (and counting!) young people across Canada is as busy as ever, and our staff of 48 humans and 5 dogs are working just as hard - albeit from the comfort and safety of their own homes for the time being! We’re pivoting our mental health education and advocacy programming to best suit the new needs of our network, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic new Program Coordinator to join us on the journey.

If you love supporting the growth of others, have a knack for logistics, and want to make a positive difference in the mental health landscape for young people in Canada - then this is the role for you. If you have experience working in education or youth mentorship programming and have a positive, team-focused attitude - then we want to speak with you.

In this role, you will:

  • Be a crucial member of our 20-person Programs team and one of 10 Program Coordinators who each focus their attention on programmatic activity in a designated region in Canada
  • Be the main point of contact for our network of young people in your designated region, managing all the logistics of their programmatic activities
  • Support and mentor young people in becoming confident, active, and knowledgeable leaders in their communities
  • Conduct training for our youth network members and provide ongoing coaching and support for the duration of their program involvement
  • Establish and foster relationships within your designated region, both with our network members and with other key community stakeholders
  • Develop an understanding of the regional priorities and barriers to optimal mental health in your designated region
  • Develop a thorough understanding of processes around data collection and management in our Salesforce database, maintaining clean and organized accounts for all program activity
  • Conduct ongoing program monitoring and evaluation activities in support of our Evaluation team’s efforts to understand and maximize the impact of our programs
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for programmatic growth in your region, and participate in program design discussions
  • Assume a speaker role when necessary to give presentations and workshops as needed
  • Take on other duties as assigned

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience with project management, logistics coordination, and relationship management
  • Experience working with youth in a teaching, counseling, or coaching capacity
  • The proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-standards environment
  • Experience or comfort with speaking in front of large crowds, producing and leading educational workshops, and facilitating group discussions
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with all those around you, including young people in our network, coworkers, and other stakeholders
  • A proactive willingness to accept and provide constructive feedback and have meaningful, frank conversations with coworkers and program participants
  • Maturity, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to work comfortably in ambiguity
  • Comfort with all forms of travel and their associated activities (e.g. air travel, driving long distances, staying in a hotel alone, etc.)**

** Note: While it is still unclear if and when previously-established regular travel activities associated with this role will resume - and what form they will take when and if they do - general comfort with travel activities will be necessary, as travel has been a crucial part of this role in the past and may become one again in the future. We are abiding by public health guidelines and erring strongly on the side of safety and caution when it comes to reinstituting travel activities for staff and members of our network. Travel as part of this role will only resume when public health officials have deemed it safe to do so, and not until we confidently feel that it is in the best interests of our team and network.

We would love it if you had:

  • Learning Management System (LMS) and/or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience
  • Knowledge of and experience in advocacy work, program development, and/or program evaluation
  • An understanding of the mental health landscape for young people in Canada

What’s in it for you?

  • A full-time, permanent position; $37,000-$40,000 per annum
  • A comprehensive benefits package, including $2,000 annual coverage for mental health services, available from the first day on the job
  • Working for an organization that supports personal and professional development and that will invest in your growth
  • A flexible, trust-based culture: we offer uncapped sick days and flex hours
  • A fun, exciting environment filled with an amazing group of driven, talented people (check us out)
  • In addition to vacation allowances, we offer a winter and summer office closure so that we can all recharge simultaneously
  • A chance to contribute to the growth of an aspirational, well-funded organization and make a significant impact on the mental health and well-being of young people across Canada

If you’re the person we’re looking for, apply here with your resume and cover letter of no more than one page. This position is scheduled to begin in October. We will be considering applications as they come in, so don’t delay!

While the work involves supporting a network of youth in all provinces and territories, this position is located at the Jack.org headquarters in downtown Toronto. Our staff team is all currently working remotely for the time being, but there is the expectation that this role will eventually return to working full-time from our Toronto office.

Jack.org is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team that represents a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. We encourage people who are reflective of the diverse communities we serve to apply to join our team.

Jack.org welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the hiring process. Accommodation requests can be made by contacting laura.d@jack.org.
