About The Job:

We are looking for a compassionate and community-focused professional to support families with children from birth to 5 years old. In this role, you will help families build confidence, strengthen parenting skills, and connect with valuable community resources.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coaching and modeling parenting, communication, problem-solving, and life skills
  • Facilitating interactive early literacy groups through songs, storytelling, and activities
  • Conducting home visits and supporting families in their everyday environments
  • Advocating for children and families and connecting them with community services
  • Responding to crisis situations and supporting family stabilization
  • Working collaboratively with families, MCFD, and community partners to create and monitor realistic goals and outcomes

Education, Training & Experience:

  • Degree (preferred) or Diploma in Human/Social Services and 2 years experience working with families with young children or
  • Early Childhood Educator with 3 years experience in early childhood development
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Other Musts:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Own vehicle with Business Use and $5 million liability insurance (Reimbursement for increased premiums is provided)
  • Consent to Criminal Record and Background Checks
  • Following training are required and provided to the successful candidate free of charge. Existing certification is an asset: CPR-C, Mandt, SafeTalk, Safe Food Handling, MCFD Privacy, Abuse and Neglect Awareness, Anti-Bullying and Harassment.
  • This position requires frequent travel within the community to visit clients in their homes.
  • This position requires Union membership and 1.85% union dues are deducted from each pay.


PROGRAM: Families First

LOCATION: Kamloops, BC

STATUS: Full-Time

HOURS of WORK: 37.5 hours per week

SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday, flexible schedule within the standard office hours of 8:30 am-4:00 pm with occasional work performed on the evenings or weekends to meet clients' needs.

REPORTS TO: Families First Program Coordinator

COMPENSATION: $29.17 - $33.49 (Grid 12 as per collective agreement)
