Director, Marketing & Communications
Talent & Customer ExperienceFull TimeRichmond, BCHybrid$125,000 - $170,000 CAD per year
Ideon Technologies uses the energy from supernova explosions in space to image deep beneath the Earth’s surface. The world pioneer in cosmic-ray muon tomography, Ideon has developed the REVEAL™ Subsurface Intelligence Platform®, comprising an advanced suite of proprietary data-generation hardware, software, physical AI, and multi-physics fusion that provide x-ray-like visibility deep underground and unlock the exponential power of integrated spatial data.
By transforming muon data into reliable 3D density maps, Ideon helps geologists identify, map, characterize, and monitor mineral deposits with confidence. This reduces risk and cost of traditional methods, while saving time, optimizing return, and minimizing environmental impact across the mining value chain. In turn, this is helping accelerate the world’s transition to low-impact mining and transform how companies recover the critical minerals required to power the global shift to clean energy – improving peoples’ lives and enhancing economic prosperity.
We are a dynamic tech scale-up of nearly 80 employees (and growing!). We are a team that is entrepreneurial by nature and focused on doing things right to deliver great customer outcomes. And we are committed to seeking out the best brains and the most exceptional humans, wherever they come from and however they happen to be packaged.
The Role
We are seeking a Director, Marketing & Communications to lead Ideon’s global marketing and communications strategy, building a distinctive, credible, and high-impact market presence that drives demand, shapes perception, and strengthens Ideon’s position as the category-defining leader in subsurface intelligence. This role works in close partnership with Commercial, Product, Customer Success, and Technical teams to translate business strategy into clear, compelling narratives and scalable go-to-market programs.
This role is critical to Ideon’s global scaling—blending strategic vision with disciplined execution to create a repeatable demand engine, elevate brand authority, and ensure consistent, high-impact communication across all external and internal audiences.
You will impact and drive Ideon’s objectives forward by focusing on the following activities:
Marketing Strategy & Product Marketing
- Evolve the global marketing strategy aligned to company growth objectives, priority markets, and target segments.
- Lead product marketing strategy across Ideon’s solutions, translating technical capabilities into clear, differentiated value propositions aligned to priority use cases.
- Partner with Product, Technical Solutions, and Commercial teams to develop market positioning, use-case-driven messaging, packaging and industrial design, sales assets, and pricing narratives.
- Lead market launch plans that accelerate adoption and conversion in enterprise sales cycles.
- Ensure customer success evidence is embedded consistently across marketing, communications, and commercial materials.
- Drive alignment between product roadmap and market needs, bringing market insight into product and GTM decisions.
Demand Generation
- Design and execute scalable demand-generation programs that drive qualified pipeline and support revenue growth.
- Support strategic accounts and major opportunities with tailored messaging and campaigns.
- Build and optimize campaigns across digital, events, partnerships, and account-based approaches.
- Oversee the development of high-quality visually impactful marketing content/assets across channels (web, social media, events, reference resources, etc.).
- Help develop toolkits, value propositions, case studies, and presentation materials.
- Advance performance metrics (e.g., pipeline contribution, conversion rates, CAC efficiency) and continuously optimize.
- Partner with the Commercial team to enable consistent, high-quality commercial engagement.
Brand, Positioning & Narrative Leadership
- Define and steward the Ideon brand, ensuring clarity, consistency, and differentiation across all touchpoints.
- Lead the global trademark portfolio.
- Lead the development of high-impact narratives (customer value, investor story, category leadership).
- Ensure messaging is technically credible, commercially relevant, and tailored to customer, government, investor, and partner audiences.
Communications Strategy & Execution
- Own the company-wide communications strategy, including external, internal, and executive communications.
- Position Ideon as a thought leader in subsurface intelligence, critical minerals, and reducing geologic uncertainty.
- Oversee media relations, including message development, proactive storytelling, press engagement, and issue management.
- Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across all channels and stakeholders.
- Guide executive communications, including speeches, presentations, and thought leadership.
Team Leadership & Operations
- Build systems and processes for marketing and communications execution.
- Own analytics and reporting across brand, communications, and pipeline performance.
- Manage budgets and resource allocation for maximum business impact.
- Provide strategic direction, coaching, and feedback to team members, contractors, and contributors.
- Foster a culture of accountability, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Success in the role looks like:
- Pipeline Impact: Marketing contributes materially and measurably to qualified pipeline and revenue growth.
- Clear Market Leadership: Ideon is recognized as the category leader in subsurface intelligence. CEO, CTO are positioned as credible, sought-after industry voices.
- Narrative Leadership: Consistent, high-quality communications shape perception across customers, investors, and governments.
- Scalable Engine: Integrated marketing and communications systems support global growth.
Priorities in the first month will include:
- Learning alongside the outgoing (retiring) person currently managing this portfolio.
- Supporting ongoing campaigns and initiatives, in partnership with external agencies, in a very hands-on way.
- Understanding the product roadmap and identifying opportunities in the go-to-market sequence.
- Establishing a flexible foundation for positioning a fast-scaling company for its next phase of growth.
