Product Manager
Products & ServicesFull TimeRichmond, BCHybrid$125,000 - $160,000 CAD per year
Founded and based in Richmond, BC, Ideon Technologies uses the energy from supernova explosions in space to image deep beneath the Earth’s surface. The world pioneer in cosmic-ray muon tomography, Ideon has developed the REVEAL™ Subsurface Intelligence Platform™, comprising an advanced suite of proprietary data-generation hardware, software, AI-powered services, and multi-physics fusion that provide x-ray-like visibility deep underground and unlock the exponential power of integrated spatial data.
By transforming muon data into reliable 3D density maps, Ideon helps geologists identify, map, characterize, and monitor mineral deposits with confidence. This reduces risk and cost of traditional methods, while saving time, optimizing return, and minimizing environmental impact across the mining value chain. In turn, this is helping accelerate the world’s transition to low-impact mining and transform how companies recover the critical minerals required to power the global shift to clean energy – improving peoples’ lives and enhancing economic prosperity.
We are a dynamic tech scale-up of nearly 70 employees (and growing!). We are a team that is entrepreneurial by nature and focused on doing things right to deliver great customer outcomes. And we are committed to seeking out the best brains and the most exceptional humans, wherever they come from and however they happen to be packaged.
The Role
We are seeking a Product Manager who will contribute to our product roadmap and process, define and prioritize features, solicit and evaluate ideas, balance business and user needs, and inform our go-to-market strategy.
Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will work within a small product team in close partnership with hardware, software, and geosciences leaders to define product release requirements based on mining market problems. You will also work with business development to integrate key product and market feedback, and with customer experience to ensure we’re delivering a differentiated and value-added experience.
You are both a strategist and executor who will help translate our high-level vision and goals into actionable tasks. You possess a unique blend of business and technical savviness that includes a big-picture vision with the drive and ability to execute on that vision. You are passionate about the customer problem and care deeply about customer success; as such, you enjoy spending time in the market understanding problems and drive innovative solutions for the broader market.
You will impact and drive Ideon’s objectives forward by focusing on the following activities:
- Act as the “voice of the market”
- Evaluate market segments to inform strategic direction and priorities
- Contribute to product strategy and coordinate product schedules with your teammates
- Enhance product management processes and tools to support the business
- Create roadmaps to illustrate our product vision and plan the future
- Collaborate with other stakeholders on the creation of positioning for our products
- Build consensus among competing viewpoints and manage the decision-making processes
- Define and validate user journeys, task flows and interaction patterns for assigned products that create a high-quality user experience from first touch through daily use, and supports long-term value realization
- Use prototypes and mock-ups to explore and communicate interaction concepts
- Participate closely in the product development process to create user stories and shape UX solutions that ensure the defined solution addresses the market’s problems.
- Work with engineering teams to identify and prioritize solutions that maximize time-to-value for the customer without sacrificing maintainability and end-to-end user experience.
- Drive buy-build-partner analysis, and where necessary, assess potential partner relationships for the product
- Know why we are winning and losing in the market, and drive changes to our product and commercial processes and propositions to create improvement
- Recommend pricing strategies and tactics to meet market needs, drive revenue growth, and advance profitability goals
Success in the role looks like:
- Participate in the significant acceleration of Ideon’s revenue engine by ensuring that we deliver high-value products and services that delight our target market
- Be a go-to person within Ideon for product knowledge including roadmap, feature set, value proposition and pricing
Priorities in the first few months will include:
- Thoroughly understand Ideon’s technology, the mining market, and our value proposition
- Assume daily, weekly and quarterly management of 2-3 product development initiatives
- Support ongoing roadmap development, working with our product management team as appropriate

- Excellent people skills to interact with staff, colleagues, cross-functional teams and third parties
- Able to embrace a constructive team environment, where members communicate openly about how to improve systems and processes

- Legally able and currently documented to work full time hours in Canada

- Great interpersonal skills; able to build relationships with colleagues, customers, and external stakeholders.
- Able to contribute something “extra” to our culture beyond the work that you do, like wowing people with your home-baked goods, sharing improv comedy skills, or organizing sports games.
Nice-to-haves – While it would be nice to if you had some of the below, we’re happy to train, coach and share our experience.
