Henein Hutchison Robitaille LLP is seeking a Civil Litigation Law Clerk to join their team. Applicants must have a minimum of ten years’ experience working as a clerk. A background in civil litigation is required, as well as having a law clerk certificate.
The successful candidate will need to possess a strong work ethic, be collaborative, analytical, adaptable, positive, and proactive.
As a Civil Litigation Clerk, you will hold a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to, the following:
- Assist with internal and external coordination of logistics with respect to preparation for and the conduct of examinations for discovery, trials and hearings.
- Liaise with Court Registry Officers/staff to obtain copies of documents from Court files.
- Execute on filings of materials with Courts/Tribunals or service of materials on opposing parties.
- Establish and organize client files, monitor calendars, meet deadlines, document actions and next steps.
- Collaborate with counsel, clients and vendors for the collection, review and production of documents.
- Draft Cost Outlines, Bill of Costs, Notice of Motion, and Affidavits for Motions.
- Assist in pulling cases for BOAs, creating, side barring and highlighting BOAs.
- Uploading of discovery to Relativity and entry of materials received or produced on production logs.
- Maintain a reminder/bring forward system, updating pleadings index.
- Perform any administrative tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion when necessary.
- Experience with eDiscovery software and document databases is an asset (Relativity, Summation, Ringtail etc.).
- Advanced knowledge in Adobe PDF and MS Office 365.
- Experience/familiarity with Soluno and iManage is an asset.
- Understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve office issues with tact and poise.
- Strong attention to detail with flexibility to accommodate work demands.
Hours: Monday to Friday, either 8:30 am - 4:30 pm or 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
