Who we are

In early 2023, Happy Doggo was just an idea taking shape in Niall Harbison’s mind: a charity, operating like a startup, working to fix the global street dog problem for good. Fast forward 12 months and we are an official charity in the UK and the US, with a global team and a worldwide following. At its core, Happy Doggo will always operate a little differently: instead of showcasing the (very real) suffering of street dogs around the world, we share stories of their incredible resilience, ingenuity, and joy. Our mission is just getting off the ground, and we’re ready to take everything to the next level.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone to help us make Happy Doggo a household name: as recognizable in the US as the ASPCA. We’ve been lucky enough to earn some great unpaid media (The Dodo, Fox News, BBC) already, but we know there are still tens of millions of people in the US who have never heard of Happy Doggo and we want to change that. We’re looking for a media and communications expert, with strong connections in both traditional and social media, to help us grow exponentially in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Landing high-value media placements in the US (interviews, podcasts, content syndication, etc.)
  • Planning and managing in-person press events (book tour, meetups, fundraisers, etc.)
  • Building relationships with creators and partners to drive increased social media awareness
  • Managing all inbound media and customer communications

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in media/PR and social media
  • Existing connections with traditional media outlets
  • Proven track record of building high-growth social channels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly developed organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Passion for dogs and/or animal rescue (professional experience in this space is a plus!)

Benefits

  • This is a full-time, contract role for $6,500/month
  • 3 weeks paid vacation plus all national holidays
  • Fully remote (occasional travel within the US required)
  • Limited to applicants from the United States
