Accountant (Entry-Level)

Background

As the second largest Diocese in English speaking Canada, The Diocese of Hamilton serves more than 626,000 Roman Catholics throughout Southern Ontario. Furthermore, its Catholic Cemeteries provide service to over 1,500 families annually. We are interested in hiring an Accountant to join our team. The candidate should have experience with MS Excel, and strong analytical skills. Experience with Quickbooks would also be an asset. The Accountant will need to demonstrate the ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced office environment. Responsibilities:

•       Ensuring the proper recording of transactions in the various account and management software

•       Assisting with the preparation of Financial Statements and Budgets

•       Analyzing and reconcile bank statements and general ledgers

•       Preparing and filing compliance reports as necessary

 

Knowledge, Competencies & Skills

•       Post Secondary Education in Accounting or Finance

•      Strong written and verbal communication skills

•       Excellent problem-solving skills

•       Proficient with Microsoft Office

•       Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively
