COMMUNICATION OFFICE MANAGER

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton, established in 1856, is the second largest diocese in English speaking Canada and serves the needs of more than 626,000 Roman Catholics, throughout Southwestern Ontario. Reporting to the Chancellor's Office, the Chancery Office in Hamilton is looking for a full time Communication Office Manager.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update social media postings
  • Work cooperatively within pastoral offices to help address the needs of the various stakeholders throughout the Diocese
  • Refer inquiries to the the Diocesan spokesperson (Chancellor)
  • Distribute press releases to news media as needed
  • Maintain relations with Catholic Communication Partners, e.g. School Boards, Hospital, Cemetery and the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops
  • Prepare the Annual Diocesan Directory
  • Administration of email addresses for Diocesan employees
  • Assist parishes with their websites upon request


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Web Design or Media Studies
  • 3 to 5 years experience in Communications, Journalism, Editing and/or Public Relations
  • Experience with the online design platform Canva
  • Knowledge of Email software and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
  • Highly organized, detailed oriented and able to manage a variety of projects simultaneously
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A good understanding of and respect for Catholic Doctrine, Liturgy and Practice
