Caretaker & Maintenance Coordinator
Canadian Martyrs Parish in Hamilton is looking for a part-time Caretaker (15 hours per week). Reporting to the Parish Priest, this position offers a competitive rate of pay and requires a commitment to work flexible hours.
Primary responsibilities
· Coordinate all hardware repairs to HVAC, BAS, plumbing, fire protection equipment, electrical and technical systems. Inspect jobs for completion.
· Schedule regular maintenance, cleaning and landscaping jobs.
· Oversee that any issues with maintenance, cleaning, landscaping and repairs are attended to promptly.
· Perform small jobs and repairs or modifications to the building as needed; such as painting, hanging pictures, care for and maintain indoor plants in the building, set up timers and mouse traps, assemble furniture and set up Christmas decorations.
· Take inventory of all supplies for cleaners and take inventory and order supplies for church hall, Student Centre and kitchens. Arrange delivery of those supplies.
· Attend regular meetings to update Pastor with job status for ongoing issues with contractors and projects.
· Inform the Pastor about any additional maintenance issues that occur and help with finding a solution.
· Update the Maintenance Manual and contact list as needed.
· Respond to all church staff with any maintenance needs they may identify, confirming needs with Pastor when necessary.
· The completion of other maintenance-oriented tasks as needed.
· Keep detailed records and logs as per the Diocesan requirements.
Requirements
· Education: high school or equivalent
· Prior maintenance experience preferred but not required.
· Be in good physical condition
· Familiar with safe operations of landscaping and snow removal equipment (lawnmower, snow blower etc.)
· Ability to work independently and follow instructions
· Steel-toed safety boots
· License: G Class Driver’s license
