McMaster Campus Outreach Liaison

Reporting to the campus minister and chaplain, the McMaster Campus Outreach Liaison is responsible for implementing the vision and strategies of the Canadian Martyrs Senior Leadership Team in raising awareness of the McMaster Catholic Chaplaincy on the McMaster campus. The McMaster Campus Outreach Liaison is a part-time role of 10 hours/week, at $19.00/hour from August until April.


Primary Responsibilities

· Works with the campus minister, chaplain and Canadian Martyrs Senior Leadership Team to plan and implement strategies for raising awareness of the Chaplaincy on campus.

· Works closely with the Outreach Coordinator on the Chaplaincy Student Executive Committee in organizing and participating in tabling and other Chaplaincy events on campus.

· Maintains a presence in the Chaplaincy office of the McMaster Chaplaincy Centre in the McMaster Student Union building.

· Develops relationships with other Christian movements and groups on the McMaster campus by attending meetings and events when possible.

· Coordinates, advises, facilitates and actively participated in liturgical planning and prayer activities at the parish church where possible.

· Other duties as assigned by the campus minister and chaplain.

Required Qualifications and Experience

· Comfortable talking about the Catholic Church with others

· Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with the campus minister, pastor, and members of the Student Executive Committee.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and trust.

· Comfortable praying with and for others

· A practicing Catholic

· Understanding of issues relevant to university students

Skills

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Highly organized and able to prioritize to meet deadlines

· Open to listening to others from a variety of life experiences and backgrounds

· College/University student or recent graduate an asset
