Hackathon Program Manager (Bilingual - French/English)

The Hackathon Program Manager will lead the delivery of the National Hackathon Program, focusing on outreach, program development and delivery, training, and program evaluation. This role involves fostering relationships with schools, community organizations, and various stakeholders to support digital skill development and the implementation of Hackergal programs. The Manager will oversee the creation of program materials, facilitate events, and ensure effective collaboration across departments to achieve program goals, including the successful execution of French translation processes. 


Salary Range:

65,000-75,000 CAD

Hybrid, in person and home based


What You’ll Be Doing!

  • Lead all aspects of the delivery of Hackergal’s National Hackathon Program, including outreach strategies, teacher and student training, marketing and promotion, and program evaluation in accordance with the Mission and Values of Hackergal.
  • Support new schools, school boards and community organizations to implement the National Hackathon Program with a focus on reaching and supporting underserved communities.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to prospective partners on value and impact of Hackergal programming.
  • Foster ongoing relationships with external education and community stakeholders (teachers, students, principals, administrators, & community partners) to support their professional development in digital skills and the implementation of Hackergal Programs.
  • Manage and facilitate dynamic in-person and virtual events and workshops focused on Hackergal’s programs and digital skill development for diverse child and adult audiences.
  • Lead collaborative processes and meetings across multiple departments (including Marketing, Outreach, Partnerships and Curriculum) to ensure the successful delivery of Hackathon Program and subsequent evaluation.
  • Guide the progression towards and reporting on Program goals related to Hackergal’s Operational Plan, including tactic execution and metric tracking.
  • Work closely with the Director of Programs and Outreach Team to develop tailored outreach and support strategies for specific communities with a focus on priority populations outlined in Hackergal’s Strategic Plan. 
  • Manage the creation of materials related to program delivery for in-person, hybrid, and virtual learning settings, and support the execution of high-quality French translation processes for all materials.
  • Maintain relationship management and stakeholder progress tracking through Hackergal Hub, an online learning portal, including the administration, documentation, tagging and follow-up of organizations, facilitators and learners. 
  • Meet or exceed all related goals/Key Performance Indicators as assigned.
  • Support the mandate of Hackergal’s Program Coordinator, ensuring they meet organizational expectations for team harmony, productivity, and goal achievement.
  • May serve as a people manager, responsible for coaching, development, Key Performance Indicator oversight, and other managerial responsibilities.
  • Will require travel locally or nationally,  for supporting team/Program events (i.e. the national Hackathon).
  • Availability for some evenings and weekends needed to support the Program to accommodate specific programming and time zones (EST, PST, MDT, CDT).
  • Other duties may be assigned based on the needs of Hackergal.

  • Fully Bilingual - ability to speak, read and write fluently in both French and English 
  • Post secondary degree in social sciences, education, or combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion, promoting a respectful program, working and learning environment
  • Demonstrated capability in interpersonal relationship management
  • Understanding and ability to navigate a not for profit organization
  • Ability to plan and facilitate interactive events for child and adult audiences on a virtual, local, and national level 
  • Ability to connect with and inspire children/youth
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, report writing, editing, proofreading and presentation skills in both English and French
  • Highly organized and  capable of prioritizing needs, goals and objectives of multi-faceted programs. Capable of maintaining all required information/data for ease of access for staff and participants
  • Ability to oversee a project from start to finish, demonstrating leadership, organization, and collaboration while maintaining high standards Professional level capabilities with  Google Suite (i.e. sheets, docs, etc.), Survey Monkey
  • Strong collaborator and problem solver
  • Proactive and critical thinker
  • Ability to passionately sell and advocate for Hackergal’s program offerings
  • Ability to analyze data, specifically as it relates to survey management and analytics required of a not for profit organization 
  • Coding and digital skills are an asset.  Scratch, html etc.  Must be willing to learn!
