Position Overview:
We are hiring a Maintenance Utility Person to work with a maintenance crew to keep outdoor living spaces looking their best. This role involves hands-on work in an outdoor environment, operating landscaping equipment, and ensuring high-quality maintenance of residential and commercial properties. This role is also responsible for ensuring the health and vitality of landscapes by safely and effectively applying pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers.

What You’ll Do:
- Operate small-engine equipment such as trimmers, lawnmowers, backpack blowers, and power rakes.
- Lift and move heavy materials by hand or with a wheelbarrow.
- Prune and shape trees and shrubs, weed garden beds, and plant trees/shrubs.
- Maintain lawn areas, pick up garbage, and sweep streets and walkways.
- Shovel rock, sand, soil, and other landscape materials.
- Clean equipment and trailers to ensure proper function and longevity.
- Safely mix and apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to landscapes, including lawns, trees, shrubs, and garden beds.
- Identify and diagnose pest, weed, and disease issues, recommending appropriate treatment solutions.
- Maintain detailed records of pesticide applications, including chemicals used, locations, and rates of application.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and local pesticide regulations.
- Monitor treated areas for effectiveness and follow up with necessary applications or adjustments.
- Inspect, maintain, and calibrate application equipment such as sprayers, spreaders, and tanks.
- Educate clients and team members on pesticide use, safety protocols, and landscape health strategies.
- Assist with other landscape maintenance tasks as needed.
- Operate Aerators, and topdressers.
What We’re Looking For:
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- WHMIS is required (or willingness to obtain certification prior to start).
- Reliable transportation to our shop location in Headingley, MB.
- Physical ability to stand, bend, and work with hands for long periods of time.
- Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to listen to and follow instructions from supervisors.
- A team-oriented attitude and strong work ethic.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions (dusty, hot, wet, or cold).
- Comfortable working weekends when required based on weather and schedule.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License preferred.
- Ability to drive a truck and trailer preferred.
Work Schedule:
- April 1st – November 15th (weather-dependent).
- Monday to Friday: 10–12 hours per day.
- Occasional Saturday shifts required based on weather and workload.
- Winter work is available but not required for this position.
