Gardon Construction Ltd is a second generation commercial construction firm with nearly 40 years of servicing and supporting the Manitoba and Western Canadian construction markets, and are looking for applicants for the following positions:

Positions (Permanent, Full Time):

  • Project Supervisor to oversee the construction process and be responsible for all construction activities on site.

Qualifications (As It Applies To The Position):

  • Post-secondary education in a related field is a benefit.
  • Journeyman Carpenter with a minimum 10 year experience.
  • Minimum 3 years as a construction site supervisor
  • Strong communications skills – verbal and written.
  • Strong ability to read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of building materials, equipment, and construction techniques.
  • Ability to assess problems and find solutions.
  • Ability to succeed under pressure and strict timelines.
  • Knowledge of applicable construction building codes; and where to look to find answers.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequences and the ability to plan and organize same.
  • Understanding and knowledge of software products; including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Projects,), PROCORE, Structionsite – and the ability to quickly learn new software programs.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships within house staff and outside influences.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • 40-hour work week. Overtime as required.
  • Ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used at all times
  • Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather, noise containing, potentially highly volatile and dusty environments.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50lbs to 60lbs +/-.
  • Operate hand tools, power actuated tools as required to train, perform tasks including inspecting and ensuring proper safe use.
  • Lead in safety meetings, daily tool box talks, and quarterly committee meetings both onsite and in office when called upon.
  • Organizing, directing, and controlling activities on the job site.
  • Providing leadership and promoting a culture of safe work.
  • Working closely with finance officers, procurement managers, project managers, project coordinating innovation officer, owners, consultants, trade contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders to provide a quality project on time and on budget.
  • Achieving project milestones, developing accurate forecast for deliverables for own forces and scheduling trades to ensure schedules are met.
  • Implementing corrective action where/when necessary.
  • Overseeing execution of work that includes quality and timeliness.
  • Issuing RFI’s and discussing needs for PCN’s with the project manager.
  • Ensuring safety protocols are always followed on site for staff and trades.
  • Maintaining up to date daily logs.

Wages:

  • Wages to be paid in accordance with the ICI Construction Wages Act of Manitoba.
