Purchasing Specialist

We’re looking for a highly skilled and strategic Purchasing Specialist to join our team. This role goes beyond traditional purchasing and encompasses supply planning, ensuring that our inventory is optimally managed across all locations. You will work closely with our Demand Planner to align supply with projected demand, playing a crucial role in our supply chain efficiency.

Responsibilities:

Procurement Strategy Development:

• Create and execute a comprehensive procurement strategy that aligns with our business goals.

• Lead the negotiation of contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to ensure the best value for our products.

Supplier Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality, timely deliveries, and cost-effectiveness.

• Conduct regular supplier performance reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Supply Planning & Inventory Management:

• Collaborate with the Demand Planner to develop accurate demand forecasts and ensure that supply planning aligns with projected needs.

• Plan and manage inventory levels by location to meet customer demand while minimizing excess stock and obsolescence.

• Oversee the distribution of inventory across our locations, optimizing for cost and efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with the Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams to support product launches, promotions, and other initiatives that impact inventory levels and purchasing requirements.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

• Monitor key supply chain metrics, including inventory turnover, stock levels, and supplier lead times.

• Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on purchasing and supply planning performance.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead and develop a small team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

• Forecast hiring needs within the purchasing and supply planning functions to support company growth.

Requirements:

Experience:

• 4+ years of relevant experience in purchasing, supply planning, or a related field

• Proven track record of successfully managing suppliers and optimizing inventory across multiple locations.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and inventory control.

• Excellent negotiation skills with a strategic mindset.

• Proficiency in demand forecasting and supply planning tools or software.

• Highly organized with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• Interpersonal:

• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and lead a team effectively.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in e-commerce or a direct-to-consumer brand, especially in the home décor or lifestyle industry.

• Familiarity with sustainability initiatives in procurement and supply chain management.
