Director of Finance

ManagementFull TimeKitchener, ON$120,000 - $150,000 CAD per year

Eagleview Construction is looking for a business-minded, analytical, and hands-on Director of Finance to join our growing team.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who enjoys creating financial clarity, improving systems, turning data into actionable insight, and helping a leadership team make better decisions.

With a team already in place managing our day-to-day accounting activity, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of the broader finance function — strengthening our financial reporting and controls while becoming a strategic partner to the President and leadership team.

About Eagleview Construction

We are a residential design-build renovation and construction company driven by a simple mission:

A great construction experience, for great people, by great people.

Our core values: Pride, Integrity, Grit, Simplicity, Enthusiasm, and Teamwork guide how we work every day.

We are a growing company with established systems, a strong team, and an ongoing commitment to improving how we operate. As we continue to scale, we want better visibility into our financial and operational performance so our leaders can make informed decisions with confidence.

The Role

As Director of Finance, you will report directly to the President, lead our finance function, and serve as a member of Eagleview's leadership team.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Owning monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Leading annual budgeting, quarterly budget reviews, forecasting, and cash-flow planning
  • Providing oversight of project profitability, job costing, and WIP reporting
  • Managing and developing our Bookkeeper and overseeing the integrity of day-to-day accounting processes
  • Building meaningful dashboards, KPIs, and company-wide OKR reporting
  • Turning financial and operational data into clear insights for managers and leadership
  • Strengthening financial controls, risk management, and reporting processes
  • Supporting strategic planning, investment decisions, and business growth
  • Managing relationships with banks, accountants, tax advisors, insurers, and other financial partners
  • Continuously improving the systems and processes that support the finance function

This is not a role where you'll simply report what happened last month. We are looking for someone who can help us understand why it happened, what it means, and what we should do next.

In This Role You Will

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statements, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reporting
  • Lead month-end and year-end close and coordinate with our external accountants
  • Maintain strong oversight of AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, remittances, and accounting controls
  • Become highly proficient in our Buildertrend and QuickBooks Online environments and ensure project financial processes are being followed consistently
  • Review project and portfolio performance to identify margin erosion, cost overruns, billing risks, and financial trends
  • Maintain reliable WIP and project profitability reporting
  • Lead the annual company budgeting process and quarterly financial reviews with the leadership team
  • Prepare and present quarterly financial updates as part of our company-wide State of the Company meetings
  • Maintain rolling forecasts and short- and long-term cash-flow planning
  • Partner with managers to understand financial variances and assist them in developing recovery plans when results are off target
  • Develop and maintain company dashboards, KPIs, and OKRs that give leaders and employees timely visibility into performance
  • Support department leaders in becoming more financially capable and confident in interpreting their numbers
  • Provide financial modelling and analysis for hiring plans, capital investments, new business opportunities, financing, and other strategic decisions
  • Identify and manage financial, compliance, insurance, tax, contractual, and internal-control risks
  • Evaluate opportunities to automate work, improve data quality, simplify processes, and strengthen financial reporting

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, ideally including leadership responsibility
  • Strong experience with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, and management reporting
  • Experience in a project-based, construction, manufacturing, professional services, or similar job-costing environment is strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project profitability, and work-in-progress reporting
  • CPA designation is strongly preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online is strongly preferred
  • Buildertrend experience is an asset
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within financial and operational data
  • Comfortable working with systems, dashboards, Excel, and business intelligence tools
  • A strong communicator who can translate financial information into clear, practical language
  • Comfortable constructively challenging assumptions and asking good questions
  • A collaborative leadership style who is able to hold a high standard while helping others succeed
  • Highly organized, accountable, and capable of balancing strategic work with hands-on execution
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and an interest in making systems simpler, more reliable, and more useful

The Right Person for This Role

You don't need a large corporate finance department around you to be effective; but you also have experience dealing with scaling organizations and see problems as the opportunities they are.

You'll be comfortable working in a growing entrepreneurial business where there is already a solid foundation, but still plenty of opportunity to improve and build systems and reporting.

You'll enjoy getting into the details when necessary, but you'll also be able to step back and see the bigger picture.

Most importantly, you'll view Finance as a partner to the rest of the business,  not simply a control function.

You will bring data, curiosity, sound judgment, and constructive challenge to the table while helping other leaders take ownership of their own results.

Why Join Eagleview?

  • Meaningful ownership: This is a senior role with direct access to the President and a seat on the leadership team.
  • Strong foundation: You aren't walking into a finance function that needs to be built from scratch. An experienced Bookkeeper, established systems, and documented processes are already in place.
  • Real impact: Your work will directly influence how we manage projects, allocate resources, make investments, and grow the company.
  • Opportunity to build: Help shape our budgeting, forecasting, business intelligence, OKR, risk-management, and performance-reporting systems for the next stage of Eagleview.
  • Great team: Work alongside leaders who care about doing great work, improving continuously, and holding themselves accountable.
  • Professional development: We believe in investing in the continued development of our people.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits

If you're a finance leader who enjoys understanding how a business really works, creating clarity from data, and helping good people make better decisions, we'd love to hear from you.
