We manage a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties and are known as one of Ottawa’s most trusted property management companies.
We are looking for a full-time Property Accountant to join our head office team and support the financial management of our growing portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounting for an assigned portfolio of residential and/or commercial properties, including month-end and year-end close.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements, schedules, and reports for internal management and property owners.
- Maintain accurate records of rental revenue, operating expenses, recoveries, and capital expenditures.
- Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances.
- Support annual operating and capital budgets; monitor performance and prepare variance analyses.
- Assist with common area maintenance (CAM) and operating cost reconciliations, property tax and insurance allocations, and tenant chargebacks.
- Respond to inquiries from property managers, owners, tenants, and auditors, providing clear and timely financial information.
- Assist with year-end working papers and audit requests.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in property management or real estate.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience using Yardi for property accounting (residential and/or commercial).
- Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and accrual-based financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software; experience with property management systems is an asset.
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with property managers and internal stakeholders.
