Associate / Senior Associate, Investments

Summary of the role: 

We are looking for an Associate or Senior Associate, Investments, who will report to our Principal, Investments on our Direct Investment team. This person will be based in Montreal, work alongside our Partners and our portfolio companies and will contribute to the strategy and execution of our Pre-Seed and Seed direct investments, focused on ClimateTech.

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Lead deal flow execution from inbound opportunity assessment to outbound sourcing, founder meetings and pipeline management;
• Evaluate investment opportunities, lead diligence workstreams and draft rigorous investment memos; 
• Leverage AI tools and automation platforms to improve workflows in sourcing, diligence and portfolio management, and be a leader in driving AI adoption in our processes;
• Support the fundraising advisory of our portfolio companies from kick-off to closing;
• Work with our portfolio companies to support key strategic initiatives;
• Co-lead our portfolio management including performance tracking, system and process improvements and value creation;
• Lead the research and tracking of fundraisings, valuation, deal terms, and KPI benchmarks relevant for our companies and our investment funds with regular updates to the Partners;
• Support the creation of new funds and the drafting of marketing materials and modeling of capital allocation;
• Work on ad hoc projects that will drive Diagram model’s scalability and growth.

You should reach out if you have: 

• 3+ years of experience in investments, private equity, or venture capital; ClimateTech experience is a strong asset;
• Outstanding track record of top decile performance in your previous roles;
• Owner mindset, initiative, rigor, critical thinking, detail-oriented, and leadership;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with stakeholders at different levels;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, knowledge of French is a strong asset;
• Existing knowledge or exposure to the venture capital or private equity industry is an asset;
• Be based in Montreal and open to a hybrid work model.
