Marketing and Communications Coordinator (1 year fixed term):

Canada Running Series is the nation’s premier running circuit with 8 events: 4 in Toronto, 2 in Vancouver, 1 in Montreal and 1 in Edmonton.  It annually attracts over 70,000 participants and raises more than $6 million for some 320 local charities.  The Series includes the IAAF Gold Label Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, and the Athletics Canada National Marathon Championships. Since 1999, CRS has gained international recognition for innovation and organization.

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is the energy of our company.  The successful candidate will bring creativity, excitement and passion for elevating our event experiences.  They will exhibit the ability to write engaging content for social media, media releases, web pages and will act as the voice of the Canada Running Series on multiple content and social media platforms.

A successful candidate will possess varied skills and experience in:

  • Content and calendar creation
  • Analytics and Reporting
  • Proficiency and strong technology skills for multiple online platforms (WordPress, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Slack, MailChimp, Asana and Office365)
  • Strong organizational skills, planning and execution
  • Strong personal skills and a passion for helping others and building the communities we run through
  • Strong communication and writing skills

Key Accountabilities:

  • Managing our Social Media accounts (customer support, calendar creation and management, posting & analytics)
  • Managing Social Media campaigns and Event Day teams (including being the CRS Communications rep in our Event Day Command Centres)
  • In conjunction with Event Partners, you will be responsible for creating media releases and advisories pre & post event
  • Plan, manage and execute CRS Press Conferences with event partners and venue
  • Responsible for race day media logistics, CRS website media pages, media accreditation planning and application form and process
  • Social Media advertising (SEO, Google, Facebook, Instagram)
  • Responsible for CRS newsletters and targeted eblasts 
  • Responsible for ensuring our CRS & STWM website content is up to date
  • Maintain and build relationships with the running community and look at ways to support and elevate 
  • Manage our race day photographers, both CRS hired photographers, videographers and third party official participant photographers (shoot schedules, credentials, mixed zones, etc)
  • Manage our Livestream team for the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon (videographers, content, partner opportunities, motorcycle transportation and on course filming and logistics)
  • Assist with the management of CRS owned photographs (media and partner requests, social media assets and tagging/photo archiving)

Working Conditions and Expectations:

  • The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work in an office environment with the opportunity to work remotely, however offsite events/activities will take them into non-standard working areas
  • The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be required to work some evenings and weekends, especially when executing Events
  • The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will be required to travel out of province for some events (Edmonton, Vancouver and Montreal).

Job Type: Full-time – 1 year fixed term


  • Social Media Management: 1-3 years (Preferred)
  • Media Advisory Writing/Content Creation: 1-3 years (Preferred)
  • Marketing: 1-3 years (Preferred)
  • Project Management: 1 year (Preferred)


  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred)
