ABOUT US

Founded in 1982, community is at the heart of the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre (RRCRC). Located in Ottawa’s Ward13, we build and promote a healthy and resilient community through the delivery of quality, diverse and innovative services in a safe and inclusive space. We provide a range of social supports interventions that enable the empowerment of residents, community resilience, and the inclusion of all. This includes food bank services, crisis intervention, community development services, children and youth programming, the operation of several social enterprises, as well as a community innovation program.

Our diverse team of employees, supported by a strong core of volunteers and our Board of Directors develops, implements, and executes our wide range of programs and services within our ward and beyond. Recognized for its innovative and dynamic leadership, the RRCRC helps its community thrive towards a promising future, transforming our community in the years to come.

A core pillar of the Centre’s work is supporting community members at all stages in their lifecycle through short term counselling, wraparound support and crisis intervention. While we provide essential supports, including crisis and system navigation, our practice is grounded in empowerment, and our focus is on fostering long-term resilience, strengthening social connections, and creating opportunities for meaningful participation in community life.

THE ROLE

The Project Officer: Finance and Administration plays an important role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the Rideau-Rockcliffe Community Resource Centre (RRCRC), a growing and community-driven charitable organization serving Ottawa’s Ward 13 and beyond.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance and Administration, this position provides administrative, financial, operational, HR, volunteer coordination, and governance support across the organization. The successful candidate will help ensure the smooth functioning of the Centre’s operations while contributing to a collaborative and mission-driven work environment.

FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Manager, Finance and Administration, the Project Officer performs a broad range of administrative and operational duties, including but not limited to the following:

Office Administration and Operations

  • Coordinate office operations, supplies, and vendor relationships to support the effective functioning of the Centre.
  • Support building and space-related logistics in collaboration with on-site partners and service providers.
  • Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems and administrative records.
  • Assist with scheduling, meeting coordination, and general administrative support across teams.
  • Support basic IT coordination and troubleshooting, including liaising with external IT providers and assisting staff with technology-related needs.

Financial Administration

  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes while maintaining accurate financial records using Sage 50 and related software.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations, financial tracking, and budget-related administrative tasks.
  • Support the tracking and documentation of grants, donations, and other funding sources.
  • Assist with audit preparation and maintaining compliance with financial and organizational procedures.

Human Resources Support

  • Support employee onboarding and administrative HR processes.
  • Assist with preparing onboarding materials and coordinating staff setup, including hardware and software access.
  • Maintain organized HR documentation and support internal administrative procedures and policies.

Volunteer Coordination

  • Support volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and communication in collaboration with program teams.
  • Maintain volunteer records and databases.
  • Assist in organizing volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall success of the organization by supporting evolving operational needs and participating in collaborative team efforts.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned in support of organizational priorities and community impact.

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Educational Background. A degree or diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant Work Experience. Minimum 2–3 years of experience in an administrative, finance, or operations support role, preferably within a nonprofit or community-based organization.
  • Financial Management Experience. Experience with bookkeeping and financial administration, including accounting software such as Sage 50 or similar platforms.
  • Volunteer Coordination and HR Support. Experience supporting HR administration and/or volunteer coordination is considered an asset.
  • IT Proficiency. Strong digital literacy and comfort with Microsoft Office, cloud-based systems, and basic IT troubleshooting.
  • Bilingual Communication. Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingualism (English/French) is strongly preferred. Additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Community Engagement. Experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of issues related to poverty, inclusion, and marginalization.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • This position requires regular in-person presence at the Rideau Community Hub and is well suited for someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative, fast-paced, community-centered office environment.
  • Work a standard work week but may be required to work some evenings and weekends to meet project milestones.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to lift and transport supplies.
  • Good working knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
